Breakdown
RATTLERS
Arizona is coming off a pair of wins over 2019 playoff teams; the Green Bay Blizzard and Tucson Sugar Skulls and want to keep the momentum going as they visit Albuquerque to match up against the Gladiators for the first time. The Rattlers and Gladiators originally had been scheduled to meet twice in 2020 prior to the season being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Former IFL Most Valuable Player and United Bowl champion Drew Powell helms the Rattlers. He is completing 66 percent of his passes with 559 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. He's been more effective in the rushing game this season, averaging a league-high 75.8 yards per game on the ground and has 10 rushing scores. Veteran Darrell Monroe and rookie Nick LeSane could add to that. Jarrod Harrington and Jamal Miles are the forces in the receiving game. The Rattlers have a talented defense led by Devin Cockrell, Tyrell Pearson and Montavious Atkinson.
GLADIATORS
Duke City seems to still becoming acclimated to the IFL after moving over from Champions Indoor Football. After a thrilling overtime win against the Iowa Barnstormers on the road, they dropped a pair of games to the Tucson Sugar Skulls and Frisco Fighters. Last week, they seemed to get back on track with a 17-point win over the Northern Arizona Wranglers. Martino Theus' group faces its toughest test of the season with a home game against the perennial Rattlers. The Gladiators lead the IFL with 48.8 points per game. Nate Davis is completing 65 percent of his passes for 785 yards with 22 scores and five picks. The Gladiators don't have much of a running game, but Raymond Taylor should see some carries. Dello Davis' 11 touchdown grabs leads the IFL and he adds 286 yards off 20 receptions. Jared Elmore will also fit into the mix in this one. Ray Jones, Jr., Paul Robinson and Karrheem Darrington are leaders on the defense with Javian Williams having a pair of sacks.
