Breakdown
WRANGLERS
Northern Arizona picked up their first win as a franchise in week 10 before falling to the Duke City Gladiators by a couple of touchdowns last week. The Wranglers seem to be getting stronger every week. If they can put a series of drives together against any opponent, they should be able to pick up some wins. It will be a tough task against the Rattlers, though the Wranglers could Surprise here. Verlon Reed, Jr. has been efficient since returning from an injury suffered in week 1. He is a veteran completing 53 percent of his passes and averaging 133.3 passing yards per game and 12 touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushes for 33.3 yards per game with four scores. Reed could use some help in the rushing game as there is no running back averaging more than 14 yards per game. Todd Athey has emerged as a favorite target of Reed, as well as Terrance Bynum and his six scoring grabs. Robert Brown and Emmanuel Lacey lead the defense with Brown recording 57 tackles, and Lacey coming in with 29 tackles, an interception and five pass break ups for the Wranglers.
RATTLERS
Arizona's win over the Sugar Skulls, coupled with the Frisco Fighters' loss to the Massachusetts Pirates last week, put the Rattlers on top of the IFL standings. They've not won six straight and will look to make it seven when they host the Wranglers for the first time this week. The Rattlers and Fighters square off in the 18th and final week of the regular season in what could be a battle for the top seed of the playoffs. Former IFL Offensive player of the Year Drew Powell is of of the league's best, if not the best, quarterbacks in the league. He's completed percent of his throws for 957 yards with 15 touchdowns and five interceptions. Even as impressive, he is averaging 66.1 yards per game with 16 touchdowns on the ground. Nick LaSane and Darrell Monroe have been the features running backs through the season. Jarrod Harrington and Jamal Miles pace the team in receiving with 10 scoring grabs between them. Devin Cockrell leads the Rattlers with 34 tackles, but four others have at least 20. Nikolas D'Avanzo has four sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss and Dillon Winfrey has a pair of interceptions.
