Gladiators 57, Bucks 45
8/21/21 --
RIO RANCHO, NM - The Duke City Gladiators held off the Bismarck Bucks, 57-45, tonight at Rio Rancho Events Center to earn the fifth seed in the Indoor Football League playoffs.
The Gladiators' win secured a playoff spot, whereas a loss would have dropped them to 6-8, causing them to miss the playoffs due to the Tucson Sugar Skulls 56-38 win over the Northern Arizona Wranglers tonight. This was the first-ever meeting between the Gladiators and Bucks.
Duke City will visit the fourth-seeded Iowa Barnstormers on August 28 at 5:05 p.m. (pacific) in the First Round of the IFL playoffs. The teams met once this season with the Gladiators defeating the Barnstormers in overtime, 63-55, on May 22. The Gladiators finish the regular season at 7-7.
The Bucks, who had clinched their playoff spot last week, finish their season at 7-8. They will visit the second-seeded Massachusetts Pirates on August 28 at 4:05 p.m. The Pirates swept the Bucks in their two games this season. The first was a 36-18 win at Bismarck on May 8 and the second came on a 43-38 win at Worcester on July 10.
