Breakdown
SHOCK
Spokane has struggled the second half of their season, including a 45-34 loss to these same Fighters on August 7. Much of their difficulties have come as a result of injuries at the quarterback position. Charles McCullum went down on June 25 against the Arizona Rattlers and back Blake Sims was lost for the season a few weeks later. Marcus McDade has filled in, but has been unable to put the Shock into the win column. The good news is that McCullum may be back for this one. Prior to his injury, he completed 60 percent of his throws along with 13 touchdowns and four picks. If he is unable to return, McDade would get the call. He is completing 49 percent of his throws with nine touchdowns and nine picks. Also returning should be Davonte Sapp-Lynch, who rushed for 33.3 yards per game with 10 touchdowns. Troy Evans, Jr., Kamrin Solomon and Keyvan Rudd are a formidable receiving trio who combine for 15 touchdown grabs through the air. Mike Green's 101 tackles are first in the IFL and he also has eight pass breakups. Dominic Sanders has a team-leading three sacks and nine pass breakups.
FIGHTERS
Frisco is coming in with a chip on its shoulder. The Fighters had a chance to earn the number one seed in the playoffs, but fell short to the Arizona Rattlers last week. Still, head coach Clint Dolezel's group has had an impressive expansion season and would like nothing more to push through and play another day. The talent is there on both sides of the field. They boast the league's third-best defense, allowing just 37 points per game. They should be confident here since the swept the Shock in two games this season. Malik Henry will be at the helm for the Fighters. He comes in completing 55 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and three interceptions. Demarcus Felton averages 39 rushing yards per game to go along with 20 touchdowns. Backup quarterback Jerrod Heard is utilized as a rusher and receiver, and has 12 touchdown catches. Mark Munson leads the team with 10 scoring catches. Bryce Wilkerson and Manny Arceneaux will also see targets in this one. Khalil Williams and Charles Williams come in with 51 and 49 tackles respectively, and Charles has a league-high 11 sacks on the year.
