Welcome to our annual thread where we will track Santa's trip around the world to delivery presents this Christmas.
Of course, this all is made possible by our friends at the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). This is the 2022 edition of a tradition which began in 2010 on Twitter and which was moved to SCtoC for Christmas 2015. I have been continuing this tradition on behalf of our family's growing next generation. Shout out to my nieces and nephews: Amanda, Jennifer, Matthew, Stephanie, Samuel and Madeline. I dedicate this thread to them.
Per NORAD headquarters, it "is a United States and Canada bi-national organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control, and maritime warning for North America. Aerospace warning includes the monitoring of man-made objects in space, and the detection, validation, and warning of attack against North America whether by aircraft, missiles, or space vehicles, through mutual support arrangements with other commands."
NORAD has tracked Santa's Christmas Eve journey now for 65 years. All graphics and photos, unless otherwise noted, are courtesy of noradsanta.org.
We will attempt to be in contact multiple times with the NORAD Santa Tracking Team on Christmas Eve and post updates throughout much of the day. Please check back and comment in the thread below! If you have any requests as to where Santa is or when he will get to your house, also comment and we will do our best to provide updates. We will also post photos from the North Pole as Santa and his Elves prepare for the trip around the world.

Just as a side note: All six of our nieces and nephews are here for Christmas, even the local ones. They are all in bed, but they're excited for this Christmas!
It's been a very difficult year for our family, but we're dedicated to celebrating the fact that we can be together.

Santa is preparing and getting very close to taking off on his annual journey. He is expected to start at the international date line and head west from there, typically riding north and south from the top of the globe to the bottom.
We will be back in the morning once he has begun his journey. My sources have uncovered this photo from the North Pole as he is organizing the pick up of toys from the workshop.

UPDATE: Santa was just spotted heading for Yemen. He has delivered over 2.3 billion gifts so far.

UPDATE: Santa is making his way through Western Africa and is headed to Western Sahara right now. He has delivered over 4 billion gifts so far.

UPDATE: Santa is In Dublin, Ireland right now. He has delivered nearly 4.2 billion gifts so far.

No photo at this time, but I can tell you Santa is now in the Western Hemisphere, specifically South America at the moment.

UPDATE: Satellite footage of Santa heading to the Falkland Islands with the North Star in the background. He has delivered over 4.48 billion gifts so far.

UPDATE: Santa is on his way to Greenland. It takes a long time to get there from South America so he's still got a few minutes to go (although, according to NORAD, he seems to operate on his own space-time continuum!). He has delivered 4.8 billion gifts so far.

UPDATE: Santa is headed to the U.S. capital. Shouldn't take him long since a lot of MAGA politicians are just getting coal in their stockings this year. He is nearing 5.4 gifts delivered so far.
