Two hundred fifty-seven players see their futures changed during a three-day span. That sounds monumental, and it should. Not only in the first round, but in the subsequent rounds was that number of football players heard their names called during the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Chicago Bears own the first selection and are widely predicted to take a quarterback. Many speculate it will be Caleb Williams out of USC. They received the pick by virtue of a trade with the Carolina Panthers. The Bears traded their first-round selection (first overall), 2023 first- and second-round selections (ninth and 61st overall), a 2025 second-round selection, and wide receiver D. J. Moore to the Bears in exchange for a 2023 first-round selection (first overall) where they took quarterback Bryce Young. If the Bears do not draft Williams, they could opt for Drake Maye out of North Carolina or Jayden Daniels out of LSU.
The final pick of the draft (257th overall), also known as Mr. Irrelevant, is owned by the New York Jets, who also possess the 256th pick. The term Mr. Irrelevant, has become a bit of a misnomer as of late, however, since the San Francisco 49ers draft quarterback Brock Purdy with the 262nd pick in the 2022 Draft. After earning the starting job in his rookie season, Purdy led the 49ers to an appearance in Super Bowl LVIII, where they fell to the champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams have the most selections in the draft at 11 apiece. Perhaps ironically since they own the top pick, the Bears have the fewest selections in this year's draft with just four after completing trades for veterans such as edge rusher Montez Sweat and wide receiver Keenan Allen. Those tallies, and the number of picks for each of the 32 teams, may vary depending on trades made prior or during the draft.
This year's NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, home of the Lions. Specific locations are noted as the downtown area and award-winning Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza. This follows a recent trend in which various NFL cities have been chosen to host the event; such as Kansas City last year and Las Vegas the prior year. The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to be held at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
The Draft is broadcast on ESPN, ABC, NFL Network, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Radio. It is available for streaming on the NFL app. Some rounds may not be televised on all of the networks. The schedule breakdown of the Draft is as follows (all times are pacific time):
Round 1 - Thursday, April 25, beginning at 5 p.m.
Rounds 2-3 - Friday, April 26, beginning at 4 p.m.
Rounds 4-7 - Saturday, April 27, beginning at 9 a.m.
There are 10 minutes between selections for round 1, seven minutes for round 2, five minutes for rounds 3 through 6, and four minutes for round 7.
The following is the 2024 Draft order for all seven rounds. Selections will be updated regularly during the Draft. Each round is noted with the subhead of that round, followed by the overall selection, followed by the team with that selection. Trades and compensatory picks have been noted. Our NFL Analyst spiderfan will provide analysis of several key selections soon after they are made. The analysis will appear in the comments section of this thread.
