Nov. 21, 2014 -- Thunder jack linebacker Bryce Peila has been voted the Arena Football League's 37th top player, according to a poll of the top 50 players which has been conducted by the league. Last month the poll was conducted by a vote of AFL players league wide. The league is releasing the results of the top 50 players over a three-month span, starting this month. Peila started all 18 of the Thunder's regular season games at JLB, and moved over to defensive back in the team's playoff game against the Arizona Rattlers following an injury to DB Varmah Sonie.. He finished the season with 8 interceptions and five fumble recoveries, while tallying 64.5 tackles. A finalist for the AFL's Rookie of the Year honors, Peila, who has been described as a "ball hawk" due to his propensity to finish plays near the opposing ball handler, was named to the second team All-Arena at the end of the season. Peila attended Western Oregon. He finished in second all time in career interceptions in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with 15. He was selected unanimously to the First Team All-GNAC his junior year as he tied for the NCAA Division II high with 9 interceptions. Bryce deserves it. it's unfortunate he now has to play for an organization which has no clue what it's doing.
