ANGI'S TAKES
SHOCK: Spokane is still looking for a solution to the void at QB left by Erik Meyer when he left for the San Jose Sabercats over the off season. Carson Coffman was the original starter, but is out due to injury. Brown has gotten most of the time under center, but with mixed results. The team has signed former Thunder signal caller Danny Southwick, who proved to be efficient in his time in Portland last season. Washington is an excellent receiver who may be suffering from a lack of consistency at QB. Dace and Fitzgerald each have 13 tackles on the season.
THUNDER: Portland looked primed to go 2-0 on the season, but fell just short of the Storm. Their scores of 42 points in week one and 48 in week two are reminiscent of last year's early season point totals. Howard set a new franchise record with 221 receiving yards in the game. He has become Rowley's go-to receiver and has 7 touchdown catches on the season. Rowley has thrown for 10 touchdowns this season to go along with 2 interceptions. Martin, who had a team-high 10 tackles against the Storm, is solidifying himself as a solid linebacker.
QUOTABLE
Thunder head coach Mike Hohensee on the loss to the Storm: “We gave one away there. We played well overall, but a couple of our own mistakes had us lose this one. Now we have to regroup on a short week.”
FEATURED TWEETS
EXTRA
Jamar Howard, who already holds the distinction of being the only Thunder player to return a kickoff for a touchdown, set a franchise record with 221 receiving yards on April 3 against the Tampa Bay Storm. His 23 receptions, 335 yards and 7 touchdowns lead the AFL (in all three categories).
GAME MEME
Against the Storm, John Martinez scored the first rushing touchdown of the season not by a quarterback.
