Spokane Shock History
2006 Season: The Cinderella Story
Year One
Regular Season Record: 14-2 (West Division Champions)
Playoff Record: 3-0; National Conference Champions, ArenaCup VII Champions
Coaches Chris Siegfried (Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator), Travis Crusenberry (Assistant Head Coach), Troy Biladeau (Defensive Coordinator), Doug Biddle
The Inaugural Season of the Spokane Shock began in the 2006 arenafootball2 (styled as af2) season. Spokane was one of four expansion teams that year along with the Everett Hawks, Stockton Lightning, and Tennessee Valley Vipers (who were revived after leaving the af2 after 2004). The Shock played in the West Division of the National Conference, which consisted of the Hawks, Lightning, Central Valley Coyotes, and the Bakersfield Blitz.
Notable AFL names associated with the 2006 Spokane Shock were Kyle Rowley, Raul Vijil, Charles Frederick (Kasnas City Brigade), Rob Keefe, Isaiah Trufant (younger brother of former Seahawks CB Marcus Trufant), and Chris Siegfried (former Pittsburgh Power head coach).
Logos, Colors, and Uniforms
The Spokane Shock logo consisted of a large blue football outlined in orange and yellow with "SPOKANE SHOCK" in the middle. The bottom of the football says "arenafootball2," displaying their association with the af2. The team's colors consisted of primary blue, secondary orange and yellow.
On March 28th, 2006, the Shock unveiled the first set of uniforms in team history.

The helmet was a dark metallic blue, with the Spokane Shock football logo on the helmet. The difference with this logo in comparison to the primary logo is the absence of "arenafootball2" on the bottom of the helmet. The home jersey was a dark blue outlined primarily in orange and yellow and was paired with white pants that had an orange stripe outlined in blue. The away jersey was white outlined primarily in blue with orange on the sides.
Season Summary
On August 26, 2005, during af2 league meetings, league commissioner Jerry Kurz accepted Brady Nelson's proposal for the Spokane Shock to be one of three expansion teams to begin play during the 2006 af2 season along with the Everett Hawks and the Stockton Lightning.
Shortly after the Shock's inception, Chris Siegfried would become the franchise's inaugural head coach and begin forming what would become a championship roster in the team's first season. The Shock played their inaugural game on March 30, 2006 against the Stockton Lightning and won 41-40 in front of over 3,000 season ticket holders and a total crowd of 9,387 at Spokane Arena.
The team would go on to post a 14-2 overall record during the regular season and a first place finish in the National Conference West Division. Spokane would go on to defeat the Bakersfield Blitz and the Arkansas Twisters in route to an af2 National Conference championship. Facing the Green Bay Blizzard in ArenaCup VII in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Shock would go on to win by a score of 57-34 and become the first expansion team in af2 history to advance to, and win, the Arena Cup.
