JULIANNE'S TAKES
BLAZERS
Portland nearly pulled out the win against Memphis on Nov. 13. They came from 11 points down to take the lead in the fourth quarter before Zach Randolph's rebound and follow with 0.6 seconds. Damian Lillard has started the season scoring 20 points in nine of the team's 10 games. He and CJ McCollum make up one of the top scoring backcourts in the NBA. Mason Plumlee has turned into a reliable rebounder and rim protector. Al-Farouq Aminu is a tireless defender and opportunistic scorer. Ed Davis is the unsung blue collar guy. Key to a Portland win: Cut down on turnovers.
HORNETS
Charlotte held a two-point lead heading into the fourth quarter of their game against Chicago on Nov. 13, but were outscored 29-22 en route to their loss. Former Blazer Nicolas Batum, the Hornets leading scorer, had 28 points against the Bulls. Kemba Walker is an underrated point guard who added 9 rebounds and 7 assists to go along with his 13 points in that game. Al Jefferson anchors the center position. Jeremy Lamb provides a scoring punh off the bench. Marvin Williams is adept on the glass and Jeremy Lin can have a breakout game any night. Key to a Charlotte win: Shoot at least 47 percent.
