JULIANNE'S TAKES
BLAZERS
Portland finally put together a 48-minute performance on Nov. 20 in their win over the Clippers. Damian Lillard led the way with 27 points, while three players posted double-doubles in points and rebounds. Ed Davis came off the bench to score 17 and pull down 15 boards, Mason Plumlee had 18 points and 10 boards, and Al-Farouq Aminu added 10 points and 12 rebounds. The 55 rebounds were a Blazers season high. CJ McCollum registered 18 points in the win. Noah Vonleh will likely get the start, but he'll have to keep out of foul trouble to be a factor.. Key to a Portland win: Rebound and close out the game in the fourth quarter.
LAKERS
Los Angeles has struggled most of the season and seems to have no clear identity. They are a young team in flux. Kobe Bryant is showing signs of age and is no longer the focal point of the team Julius Randle had 18 points and 12 rebounds in the loss to the Raptors on Nov. 20. D'Angelo Russell scored 17 points. He and Randle are considered the future of this team. Roy Hibbert came over from the Indiana Pacers over the summer, and is not much more than a defender. Jordan Clarkson starts at the point, but is on the lower end of starting point guards in the NBA. Key to a Los Angeles win: Get out to the early lead and hold on for life.
