ANGI'S TAKES
LAKERS
Los Angeles is essentially in a free fall and was clobbered by the Warriors on Nov. 24 by 34 points. They are clearly in a rebuilding mode. Julius Randle posted a double in the Nov. 22 match up between the teams with 13 points and 13 rebounds. He led the Lakers to a 51-43 edge in rebounding on the night. Jordan Clarkson led the Lakers in scoring in that game with 19. Kobe Bryant, possibly playing his last season, scored 18 on just 6-22 shooting. Sedond overall pick in last summer's NBA draft, D'Angelo Russell, added 9 rebounds and 6 assists to go with his 13 points. Lou Williams came off the bench to score 14 points and help spark a second half surge. Nick Young and Metta World Peace come off the bench, but neither had an impact in the previous meeting. Key to a Los Angeles win: Get out to the early lead and hold on for life.
BLAZERS
Portland is on pace to go 31-51 this season, which is pretty close to where several prognosticators have placed the team. Damian Lillaed and CJ McCollum combined for 49 points in the first meeting against the Lakers. Lillard added a career-high 13 assists (the team had 27 total) to his game-high 30 points. McCollum scored 19, and the duo combined to shoot 20-38. Mason Plumlee, who has registered four straight double-doubles, had 17 points and 11 rebounds against the Lakers. Al-Farouq Aminu and Maurice Harkless each scored 10 points, while Allen Crabbe was +14 while on the court. Fomer Laker Ed Davis tallied 9 points in the Blazers' win. Meyers Leonard will be active for the first time after missing seven games due to a shoulder injury. The Blazers' bench outscored the Lakers' bench in the game, 31-23. Key to a Portland win: Win the rebounding battle and close out the game in the fourth quarter.
