ANGI'S TAKES
PACERS
Indiana is not flashy, but they are getting it done. The Pacers entered their Dec. 2 game tied for the second best record in both the Central Division and the Eastern Conference. Paul George is finally healthy and the Pacers are reaping the benefits from that as he is among the top scorers in the NBA. He will be a tough challenge for any Blazer tasked with defending him. Monta Ellis is one of the better, yet unsung off guards in the league and George Hill is an effective point guard in their system. Ian Mahinmi has been effective at anchoring the middle and Lavoy Allen provides some defense in the starting group. Chase Budinger, Jordan Hill and Rodney Stuckey are players to watch off the bench. Key to an Indiana win: Utilize their experience and pull away in the fourth quarter.
BLAZERS
The question for Portland in this game is whether Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum will re-discover their shooting touch after laying respective eggs against the Mavericks. The Blazers will need a big night from McCollum if they are to win this. Meyers Leonard could take some pressure off if he follows up his 23-point performance against the Mavericks with a solid game here. Mason Plumlee should get the better of Mahinmi, and Ed Davis has been a rebounding monster for the Blazers. Maurice Harkless has been impressive of late. The Blazers will need he and Allen Crabbe to step up; preferably a combination of them all. A solid game at both ends from Al-Farouq Aminu could be a big boost. Key to a Portland win: Defend and stay out of foul trouble.
