The Spokane Empire continues to add depth and talent to their offensive line, announcing the signing of offensive lineman Deveric Gallington to the 2017 roster.
Gallington (6'3'', 330 lbs) should be a familiar name to Spokane fans, as he played in Spokane from 2014-2015 as a member of the Shock. During his time in Spokane, he played in 22 games (19 starts) and was a versatile piece among the offensive line, playing at both tackle spots, center, and running back. In addition to blocking, he made 6 total receptions for 33 yards and rushed 6 times for 7 yards in short yardage situations.
In 2016, Gallington played for the Portland Steel, playing in 14 games. He also made contributions in the Steel's passing game, hauling in 6 passes for 28 yards.
A graduate of Texas Tech University, Gallington played in 47 games (38 starts) during his 4-year career from 2009 to 2012. In 2012, his senior season, he helped paved the way for a Red Raider rushing offense that amassed 1,674 rushing yards. After finishing his collegiate career, he went undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft and spent time as a member with the Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals.
In the team's press release, Head Coach Adam Shackleford praised Gallington's ability as run/pass blocker. "[He] will be a tremendous addition to our offensive line," Shackleford said. "He is a versatile lineman with the ability to play all three spots up front and brings a lot of experience to the table. I know he’s excited to return to Spokane and play in front of our faithful fans once again.”
