BREAKDOWN
STEAMWHEELERS
The Steamwheelers had a bit of a rough go of it in their first IFL season after coming over from Champions Indoor Football over the off-season. They entered the final week of 2019 with an opportunity to reach the playoffs, but were turned back by the Sugar Skulls in Tucson. That likely left Quad City with a collective bad taste in it mouth. Turn the page to a new season and, with eight of the IFL's 13 teams earning playoff berths, the Steamwheelers seem poised to reach the post season. Head coach Cory Ross returns, but that's just the base of the core. Quarterback E.J. Hilliard, one of the league's highest ranked passers a year ago, is back under center. Also in the mix are Hilliard's favorite two targets; Quinten Pedroza and Keyvan Rudd. All three finished near the top of their respective statistical categories and are primed to light the IFL on fire in 2020. The defense will be a bit of a work in progress, but likely will be led by LB Howard Stephens, Jr., as well as defensive backs Antonio Marshall and Malik Duncan.

RIVER KINGS
The River Kings can only move up. Under new head coach Victor Mann, they will look to revamp their roster and put together come winning combinations on both sides of the ball. Veteran indoor quarterback Derrick Bernard's rights were acquired via trade with Cedar Rapids' cousin franchise, the San Diego Strike Force. However, Bernard had already left the California border midway through last season for another league. While a solid passer with a good arm, Bernard was prone to interception last year. The River Kings acquired some talent at the wideout positions with the free agent signings of receivers Shaquan Curenton and William Gibbs from the Tucson Sugar Skulls and Bismarck Bucks, respectively. The team also signed Bones Bagunte of the National Arena League's Carolina Cobras over the off season. The defensive front looks promising with the returns of linemen Walter Walker, Jr. and Samuel Mabany. Off-season pick up defensive backs Antwan Smith, Keith Trumps and Justin Wyatt.
