The following is the full schedule for the lone season of the original XFL's Inaugural 2001 Season.
The XFL was operated as a joint venture between the World Wrestling Federation and NBC, with the predominant figureheads being Vince McMahon (WWF) and Dick Ebersol (NBC). The league was promoted as having fewer rules and rougher play than the NFL.
The league was made up of eight franchises that were owned and operated by the league in a single entity business model. The teams include the Birmingham Thunderbolts, Chicago Enforcers, Las Vegas Outlaws, Los Angeles Xtreme, Memphis Maniax, New York/New Jersey Hitmen, Orlando Rage, and the San Francisco (originally San Jose) Demons. Birmingham, Chicago, New York/New Jersey, and Orlando up the East Division, while Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Memphis, and San Francisco made up the West Division.
3 of the 8 XFL teams were located in NFL markets, with Chicago and New York/New Jersey playing NFL stadiums while San Francisco played at Pacific Bell Park, the baseball stadium for the San Francisco Giants.
The league's inaugural season spanned 10 weeks, beginning one week after Super Bowl XXXV on February 3rd, and ending the weekend of April 7th. Each XFL team will hosted 5 home games and play 5 in road games. The schedule will feature home-and-home series against division rivals, and one game against each team in the other division.
At the end of the season, the top two teams from the East and West Divisions advanced to the playoffs. However, to avoid having teams play each other three times in a season, the league set up the semifinal round of the playoffs to feature teams from the opposite divisions. As a result, the East and West Champions would face the runner-up teams of the opposite league. The winners of those games would advance to the XFL Championship, marketed as the "Million Dollar Game," at the host city of the highest remaining seed.
Due to low television ratings, the 2001 XFL season would be the only season of the league as the XFL would cease operations a month after the Championship game. The XFL would be reincarnated in 2018 by Vince McMahon, with less emphasis on wrestling-inspired features and entertainment and more emphasis as being a serious spring football league. The reincarnated XFL made its debut in 2020, but was cancelled midway through the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each week's game appears from the start of the league's season through the Million Dollar Game. Where applicable, click on the final score to view the box score (box scores credited to All-XFL.com).
