The following is a listing of the playoff schedule & results for the 2021-22 Spokane Chiefs. Spokane finished the regular season with a 24-39-4-1 record, which ranked 4th in the U.S. Division and 7th in the Western Conference.
Due to the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 WHL Playoffs were cancelled, but with the 2022 playoffs in full swing, Spokane returns to the playoffs after three years.
In their last playoff run, Spokane saw a magical season come up short in the Western Conference Finals, falling to the WHL Final runner-up Vancouver Giants in five games. This season, Spokane nearly missed the playoffs, sitting with a woeful 12-26-3-1 record and in last place in the Western Conference. After firing HC Adam Maglio on February 10, the team has seen a noticeable turnaround, going 12-13-1-0 under interim HC Ryan Smith to clinch a playoff berth in the final game of the regular season.
The Chiefs will take on the B.C. Division champion Kamloops Blazers in the Western Conference Quarterfinals in this year's playoffs. This will be the sixth playoff meeting between the two longtime WHL clubs, with the Chiefs and the Blazers splitting the all-time playoff meetings 3-3. This year's match-up is the first playoff meeting between both teams since the 2001 WHL Playoffs, when Spokane swept the Kamloops in the West Division Quarterfinals.
The Chiefs-Blazers playoff series will see a very unique series format due to the Paul McCartney tour concert, which will make Spokane Arena unavailable from Sunday, April 24-Thursday, April 28. As a result, the playoff series will not follow the traditional 2-2-1-1-1 format, and instead will be a 3-3-1 format, with Spokane guaranteed to host one home game (Game 4).
The following is a listing of the Chiefs' playoff results. Games in Bold Blue denote home games. Click on the final score for the recap the WHL's website.
All WHL Playoff games are streamed on WHL Live, but it requires a pay subscription.
