OVERVIEW
The BC Lions are a Fantasy Canadian Football League team which was formed in June 2018. They play in the Leaf Division of the FCFL, was was created in May 2018. The team is named for the Canadian Football team, the BC Lions, which is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The fantasy Lions are based out of Portland, Oregon (U.S.A.). The team was previously operated from a dorm room in Boise Idaho.
The FCFL plays its games using players from the nine CFL teams. The fantasy league will begin its regular season during week 3 of the CFL season (effectively, the week of June 24-26). For the second straight year, 16 teams make up the FCFL, forming four divisions; the Maple, Leaf, Mountie and Moose. The inaugural draft was held over a multi-day span beginning June 17. The draft was split up into segments, separated by the divisions. This allowed for teams in each division to select players from the entire spectrum of CFL rosters. Teams in a division could select players which had been selected in the opposite division. However, once a player was taken in either a single division, that player was off the board in that particular division.
Through random draw, the Lions possessed the second pick in the Leaf Division's draft. They selected the CFL's Lions running back James Butler. Other notable picks included wide receivers Greg Ellingson of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Tim White of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Lions are one of just three teams to open the season with three quarterbacks on the roster; Zach Collaros (Winnipeg), Bo Levi Mitchell (Calgary Stampeders) and Vernon Adams (Montreal Alouettes).
The BC Lions are innovative when it comes to technology and created the FCFL's first media guide blog and thread in July 2018. This is the return of that guide after a two-season hiatus. The team is run by using a pair of laptop computers and cellular phones. This enables its executive staff the flexibility in coordinating activities involving both the team and the league; 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Lions are owned by Angela Martin, a native of the Portland area. She also serves as the team's general manager, head coach and offensive coordinator. Martin previously was the owner of the Champions Internet Fantasy League's Portland Forest Dragons. Martin is one of three female owners in the FCFL. On July 8, 2018 Martin announced that her youngest sister, Monika, would serve as Director of Player Personnel and Lead Scout for the Lions. Monika Martin has also taken the mantle of assistant head coach and defensive coordinator of the Lions.
The Lions play their games on the fields the CFL teams' stadiums, and is filtered through Goal Line Software.

OWNER'S STATEMENT
"We are thrilled to participate in the inaugural season of the Fantasy Canadian Football League. There are a whole new slate of players as well as a few familiar faces we have followed since their college days. It's thrilling to be a part of such an amazing and progressive league. The reason we initially selected the BC Lions as our franchise was, in addition to the terrific Vancouver people and community, they were the closest geographically. With hectic and busy schedules, we felt that would lessen our commute time to the games. We look forward to competing against the other teams in the FCFL. The only question is, which one of them will we defeat in the Fantasy Grey Cup. This franchise's pedigree is that of a champion. Combine that with the roar of the Lion, and we feel there is no way we can lose. Let's get to it!."
LIONS SMACK TALK STATEMENT
"The Roar of the Lion is our calling card. There is a reason he is considered the King of the Jungle. On the field, we intend to be the Kings (and Queens) of the FCFL Jungle. We will stop at nothing to make the Lion victorious."

OWNER'S PICK-BY-PICK DRAFT ANALYSIS
Rd. 1, Pick 2 -- RB James Butler: "We were hoping that a player of James' caliber woudl be available to us early. He was and we wasted no time in pulling the trigger on this bruising, special runner."
Rd. 2, Pick 7 -- WR Jaelon Acklin: "Even though we were early in the draft, for Jaelon to still be available was extremely welcome. We could not be more pleased to bring him to the Lions."
Rd. 3, pick 10 -- WR Greg Ellingson: "As with Jaelon, we were thrilled when Greg was still available in the third round. It took us no time to snag the talented receiver and bring him to British Columbia."
Rd. 4, pick 15 -- QB Zach Collaros: "Zach is a special quarterback who we believe can lead us to the Fantasy Grey Cup. We are pleased that he will be under center for our team during this 2022 season."
Rd. 5, pick 18 -- WR Tim White: "This was the steal of the draft. The fact that this amazing receiver was available in the fifth round was astonishing. We are more than pleased to welcome Tim to the team and look forward to great things from him."
Rd. 6, pick 23 -- WR Dalton Schoen: "Dalton is a very talented receiver who can break a play at any time. We're going to look at him as a possible receiver we can put in true passing situations; a fourth receiver type of player."
Rd. 7, pick 26 -- RB Devonte Adams: "This is a running back we thought about taking earlier in the draft, He's an exceptional rusher who should help solidify our backfield and push (James) Butler for a major role in our offense."
Rd. 8, pick 31 -- QB Bo Levi Mitchell: "How was Bo Levi available in eighth round?! No brainer on this pick. He was our starter in 2018 and we look forward to having him back in 2022. No question he will see some playing time with the Lions this season."
Rd. 9, pick 34 -- Winnipeg Defense: "We wanted to being in a defensive group with heart and desire, and I think we got that with the Blue Bombers. We feel this is a group which can literally help us win games this year."
Rd. 10, pick 39 - WR Nate Behar: "We are confident that Nate will provide solid depth for us in the passing game this season. We see him as a guy who we can put in and not miss a beat during bye weeks."
Rd. 11, pick 42 -- WR Richie Sandini: "Richie, much like Nate, is going to give us some very strong depth at the receiver position. We see a lot of potential here and, we also think his name is cute."
Rd. 12, pick 43 -- QB Vernon Adams Jr.: "We had not planned to select a third quarterback, but we could not decline the opportunity to select the former Oregon Duck and CFL standout when he was available so late in the draft."
Rd. 13, pick -- David Coté: "David is one of the top kickers in the CFL. He has great accuracy and distance. We know that in a close game, David can make the different with a big kick. We're excited to have him as a Lion."
Rd. 14, pick 55 -- Ottawa Defense: "Two defenses are better than one, right? We just had to pick up this group with our final pick. They are a strong collective who will compliment Winnipeg's defense quite well."
