Honestly not a fan of these. - Tornado. >> Should be Tornadoes. - Crude >> Crude Oil? I guess that'd be okay. Not wild about it. - Oilers >> The ownership group already has a hockey team called the Tulsa Oilers. What's the point in naming another franchise the same name? - Wildcatters >> Easily the worst of the bunch. I get wildcatters are prospectors who sinks exploratory oil wells, but the logo they're hinting at is animal based. Not a fan. - Bison >> Eh. It's okay. Probably Top two for me of the selected names. I'm pretty much dug in they should have resurrected the Tulsa Talons brand.

I'm sure the Talons would have been a top 5 option; perhaps there was some trademarking issue or other obstacle that prevented it from happening. If I had to pick from this list, though, Tornado would be my top choice. The alliteration is catchy, and would provide them with a foundation for a rivalry with another team named after an extreme weather event (GB Blizzard).

How about the Tulsa Bears?
Just kidding.
I like the Tornado. It completes the hat trick with the Storm and the Blizzard.

USPTO and Trademark Elite has the Tulsa Talons mark/name as Dead/Cancelled. I think it's more the ownership group is very partial to an oil-based name, so they didn't want to resurrect the Talons brand. Surprised the fans didn't write it in, or maybe they did and Tulsa pulled a Terry Emmert and ignored it.

Tornado or Bison for me. Like David, those are my top two choices. I probably would lean toward tornado.

Tornado is good, but I've always liked team names which are named after uncommonly used animals. I'm going with Bison.
Also, I am moving this thread to the Tulsa board. I'll leave a "this thread has moved" message here.

Tulsa has announced its name will be unveiled Saturday, September 10th at the team's Open House event at the BOK Center.

Welp. Tulsa has gone with the Oilers as its new name.
Color scheme looks like it's a combo of black, dark grey, and athletic gold. Primary logo honestly looks like a Houston Oilers knockoff.

I dislike the fact it takes away from an already established brand -- the Tulsa Oilers hockey team.
This comes off as lazy to me. Why even have a fan vote if you were just going to name it after the hockey club? I get it, same ownership. It's still lazy and it's a disservice to your hockey brand.
The logo isn't super similar to the Houston Roughnecks oil derrick, but the Tennessee Titans didn't appreciate it and they sent a cease and desist letter to the XFL. Makes you wonder if they'll act if they catch wind of this.

These days we're always seeing some obscure D3 college make a fuss whenever a pro team re-brands too similarly to their own identity. It also makes you wonder if the fans actually wanted the Oilers name, even though there's the ECHL team already named that.
