People of Sports Coast to Coast it is that time of the year again! The new NFL league year has started meaning free agency and trades! Here I will give my thoughts on all the major signings and trades as they happen. So without further ado, let us begin! Jimmy GQ to RaidersQuick thoughts: Garoppolo finally gets his chance to be an undisputed starter once again. I've always thought he is underrated and with him reuniting with Josh McDaniels, the Raiders will surely be improved from last year. Heck, IMO Jimmy GQ has been better than Derek Carr for a while, so barring injury, I think Jimmy GQ will outplay Carr this year (a recent addition to the Saints prior to the start of free agency). Mike McGlinchey to BroncosQuick thoughts: McGlinchey has been a stalwart lineman for the 49ers for a while now and the Broncos will be happy to have him protecting Russell Wilson. Javon Hargrave to 49ers and TJ Edwards to BearsQuick thoughts: The Eagles lost both their coordinators to be head coaches and so far they have lost 2 of their defensive starters. Good for Hargrave and Edwards that they will be able to capitalize on their helping the Eagles to get the Super Bowl.

Jessie Bates to FalconsQuick thoughts: Bates has been one of the best defensive players that the Bengals have had in the recent successful years, so replacing him is going to be a big ask for them. As for the Falcons, they get a great safety. Maybe this is a sign that the Falcons are going to get serious about winning again.

Baker Mayfield to Buccaneers Quick thoughts: Mayfield had an and up and down season last year. With the Panthers he sucked, with the Rams he looked the best he has looked in years. It shows what quality coaching can do. With the Buccaneers beginning the rebuilding process will Mayfield play as well as he did with the Rams or play as poorly as he did with Panthers? The Buccaneers still have plenty of talent on their roster, and with the NFC South being a weak division, I think Mayfield will be in position to get the Buccaneers to the playoffs. Good signing.

JuJu Smith-Schuster to PatriotsQuick thoughts: Smith-Schuster was a key player for the Super Bowl champion Chiefs and has now cashed in. As they showed last year, the Chiefs will find ways to win regardless of receivers leaving, so the Chiefs will be fine. Smith-Schuster is the best WR the Patriots will have had in a long time, so this move makes sense from a football standpoint. Smith-Schuster is a bit of a character though, so it will be interesting to see if he can fit in "The Patriot Way".

Orlando Brown to BengalsQuick thoughts: Brown has been one of the better O-lineman in football since he was drafted. He has been looking for a big pay day for years and the Bengals were the ones to finally give to him. With the Bengals in an arms race with the Chiefs and Bills, them signing Brown certainly gives them an edge over both at the line of scrimmage. Great signing by the Bengals.

Brandin Cooks traded to CowboysQuick thoughts: And yet another instance where Brandin Cooks gets traded. The Cowboys WR corps was missing Amari Cooper last year and because it always takes a year before the Cowboys realize a mistake, they now finally address the issue. Cooks is a solid WR, although it will be interesting to see his numbers this year considering that Kellen Moore took his Air Raid offense to the Chargers and Mike McCarthy is now the Cowboys playcaller.

Adam Thielen to PanthersQuick thoughts: Thielen has been a consistent performer for the Vikings for a number of years now. Whoever the Panthers pick with the #1 overall pick will be glad to have Thielen as a target. Nice signing by the Panthers.

Mecole Hardman traded to JetsQuick thoughts: Considering Hardman was orginally going to be a replacement for Tyreek Hill in event that he was suspended for something he didn't do, Hardman had a solid career in KC. Aaron Rodgers will be happy to have someone of his speed to take the top off of defenses. Solid trade. Elijah Moore traded to Browns
Quick thoughts: With Hardman coming in for the Jets, it only made sense for Moore to be out. Moore is a talented wide out and Deshaun Watson will be happy to have him as a target to throw to.

Bobby Wagner to SeahawksQuick thoughts: HEEEEEEEE'S BAAAAAAAAACK after he should have never been let go in the first place. Wagner was a cap casualty last year and without him, the Seahawks defense was up and down all year. With him back, the Seahawks defense is almost guaranteed be better than it was last year. That alone makes this a quality signing. Add in making up for a mistake, and you have a fantabulous signing by the Seahawks (admittedly that is a biased statement by me but I'm allowed to feel some joy in this as a Seahawks fan aren't I?)

Odell Beckham Jr to RavensQuick thoughts: For a team that has become infamous in recent years for not having a quality passing game (primarily due to being a run focused offense), the Ravens now have arguably the best WR they've had since Steve Smith Sr. OBJ has had an up and down career up to this point so whether or not he will be successful with the Ravens will be a topic of conversation throughout the offseason and into the regular season. The elephant in the room now is who will be throwing to him? Lamar Jackson, who is currently in the middle of a contentious contract negotiation and has asked for a trade or someone else?

Aaron Rodgers to Jets
Quick thoughts: In a move that everybody in the football world knew was coming for months now, Aaron Rodgers is now officially a member of the New York Jets. Rodgers had an up and down season last year, but prior to last season he did have 2 straight MVPs. The Jets have a lot of talent, with 2022 OROY Garrett Wilson leading a WR corps that now includes free agent acquisitions Mecole Hardman and Allen Lazard. Breece Hall was great in his brief time as RB last year and the defense has the likes of Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams among others. This was a team that went 8-9 despite shoddy QB play and now with Rodgers rejuvenated playing for a new team, with something to prove, and with Rodgers favorite Nathaniel Hackett calling the offensive plays? I'll pick them now, the Jets are pull what the Buccaneers did with Tom Brady and win the Super Bowl. The AFC is tough for sure, but I think the Jets will make it happen. If I'm wrong, I'll be sure to mock myself for this later.
