The following is the complete schedule for the 2023 Major League Baseball Playoffs.
The 2023 MLB Postseason enters the second year of the expanded playoffs, allowing a total total of six teams per league to partake in the postseason, up from five that had been in place from 2012-2021 (not including the 2020 COVID Season). The #1 and #2 seeds in the American and National leagues will receive first-round byes into their respective Division series. The American and National League Wild Cards will expanded from singular, 1-game elimination games to a 3-game series, all to be played at the #3 and #4 seed's home field. The winners will then advance to the Division Series, with the #1 seed facing the #4/#5 winner and the #2 seed facing the #3/#6 winner.
The Houston Astros (90-72, AL West Champions), the defending champions from 2022, aim to reach their third consecutive world series, and their fourth world series in the last six seasons. The Astros will attempt to become baseball's first back-to-back World Series champions since the New York Yankees did it in 1998-1999, which was the first two of a three-peat. Last year's runner-ups, the Philadelphia Phillies (90-72, NL Wild Card), look to return to the World Series to finish the job, after falling to Houston in 6 games.
Two teams with long playoff droughts will partake in the 2023 Postseason, both from the American League. The Baltimore Orioles (101-61, AL East Champions) and the Texas Rangers (AL Wild Card) both make their returns to the postseason for the first time since 2016. Both teams fell in the 2016 Postseason to the Toronto Blue Jays; Toronto defeated Baltimore in 11 innings in the AL Wild Card game, then proceeded to sweep Texas in the AL Division Series.
This postseason will also be noteworthy that it'll mark the first time time in 30 years (1993) that the MLB postseason will not include the Boston Red Sox (78-84, 5th in AL East), New York Yankees (82-80, 4th in AL East), or the St. Louis Cardinals (71-91, 5th in NL Central).
Each round of the MLB Playoffs will appear most recent at the top of the post. Final results will be updated following the conclusion of the games. All game times are listed in the Pacific Timezone (PST). Where applicable, click on the final score to view the MLB's game tracker for the complete box score.
All MLB Playoff Games will be broadcast on Television across six networks. including ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 (AL and NL Wild Card Series), TBS (NL Division Series, NL Championship Series), FS1 (AL Division Series, AL Championship Series), and FOX (AL Division Series, AL Championship Series, World Series).
