The following is a listing of the playoff schedule & results for the 2023-24 Spokane Chiefs. Spokane finished the regular season with a 30-32-5-1 record, which ranked 4th in the U.S. Division and 8th in the Western Conference.
Spokane makes its return to the playoffs after a year absence in part of a team rebuilding effort. The team improved upon its 15-43-4-6 record by winning twice as many games this season.
In their last playoff run in 2021-22, the Chiefs nearly missed the playoffs, sitting with a woeful 12-26-3-1 record and in last place in the Western Conference. After firing HC Adam Maglio on February 10th, 2022, the team saw a noticeable turnaround, going 12-13-1-0 under interim HC Ryan Smith to clinch a playoff berth in the final game of the regular season to go 24-39-4-1 and clinch the 7 seed in the playoffs. Spokane would face the Kamloops Blazers in the Western Conference Quarterfinals, but were outmatched, resulting in a Blazers sweep.
The Chiefs will take on the B.C. Division champion Prince George Cougars in the Western Conference Quarterfinals in this year's playoffs. This will be the fourth playoff meeting between the two longtime WHL clubs, with the Chiefs leading the all-time playoff series 2-1. This year's match-up is the first playoff meeting between both teams since the 2000 WHL Playoffs, when Spokane defeated the Cougars 4 games to 1 in the West Division Semifinals.
The Chiefs-Cougars playoff series will see a 2-3-2 format as opposed to the traditional 2-2-1-1-1 format due to the distance travel distance and travel time between Spokane and Prince George, which features a 12+ hour bus ride and a distance of 650+ miles.
The following is a listing of the Chiefs' playoff results. Games in Bold Red denote home games. Click on the final score for the recap the WHL's website.
