A funny scene occurred at the game last night. After Spokane scored its second touchdown to cut the deficit to 13-12 with 2:34 left in the 1st Quarter, Empire mascot J.J. the Engineer had a bit of an accident.
As he was running with the flag, the invisible turf monsters made their debut, causing the mascot to trip and fall. This got a reaction from the Empire crowd and Empire radio announcers Larry Weir and Keith Osso.
