Spokane Empire RB Trevor Kennedy has been named Vidswap.com's Offensive Player of the Week for Week 8.
This makes back-to-back Offensive Player of the Week awards for Kennedy, who had another monster game in Spokane's 97-72 victory over the Colorado Crush. He didn't disappoint in his follow-up performance, rushing 14 times for 59 yards and 4 touchdowns. Kennedy also made an impact in Spokane's passing game, hauling in 4 passes for 18 yards and 3 touchdowns, one of which was an amazing somersault over a Colorado defender into the end zone.
The rookie from MercyHurst University (PA) has been on a tear as of late, accounting for 11 touchdowns in two weeks. So far this season, Kennedy leads the IFL in scoring with 20.4 points/game, as well as overall rushing yards (355) and average rushing yards per game (71.0). His 14 touchdown runs are 2nd in the IFL, and 1 behind QB Jameel Sewell of the Nebraska Danger (15 rush TD).
The other IFL Week 8 winners include:
Defensive Player of the Week - LB Max Davis, Wichita Falls Nighthawks Special Teams Player of the Week - KR Korey Williams, Sioux Falls Storm
The Empire hit the road to take on the Iowa Barnstormers on Saturday, April 16th at the Wells Fargo Center. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. PST. You can catch the action locally on the radio on 700 ESPN AM or online at 700ESPN.com. The game will be broadcast online at IFL Live TV (paid subscription).
