Our administrator here and my sister Kasey is in the hospital and has been last night. My oldest brother, Jessica and Julie were with her and my parents flew down and joined them. From what everyone had told me, she has had stroke-like symptoms on three separate occasions. The first of these happened when she collapsed at her desk last night.
Kasey is in ICU right now and there is no definite prognosis for her. We are all hoping for the best but fear the worst.
I am pleading to all of you to keep her in your prayers as she fights this fight.
Thank you.

They want to keep her for observation at least overnight. I talked to her biefly this afternoon and she sounded normal. They think she has so much going on that her brain shut down except for basic motor functions. I am hearing good things from my parents, Brian and Jessica.

Whew. Thankful for the healing. I know she runs on many cylinders... I pray the doctors figure out the problem and that she will slow down a little.

Whew. Thankful for the healing. I know she runs on many cylinders... I pray the doctors figure out the problem and that she will slow down a little. They're saying it's a combination of extreme fatique and her anemia, saying two of the episodes were extremely minor strokes. She has all her motor functions and there seem to be no lingering effects. She's probably coming home from the hospital Thursday morning although i know she's going to lobby for tomorrow. One thing she's dead set on is going to the Stanford-Oregon game Thursday night. Her doctor actually thinks that might be a good idea. Just get out and do something fun. The number one topic has been to take some things off her plate. We're all going to be helping her with that. That's going to bring some changes to this forum. She's not going to be around here for a while, but we're going to do a couple things to keep things hopping around here. You probably won't notice much of any changes. Don't worry though. I'll let you know if anything major comes up.

She needs to take care of herself as you do. The forum will be fine, perhaps won't grow as quickly but that is ok. All will be well. All will be well.

I just saw Kasey. She looks really good and is itching to get out of the hospital. The neurologist is going to run some tests this morning and if everything looks all right she can be released sometime early afternoon. I'm going to class today then I'll call her mom at lunch time to find out what's going on. I want to do a couple things at our apartment in the event she comes home. I've also talked to her adviser/counselor who is arranging to get recordings or transcripts of the lectures she's missed.
One thing Kasey told me when I saw her this morning was that she actually slept well, meaning she was into REM because she remembers dreaming. This is an extremely rare thing for her. Usually when she sleeps it's restless and not a deep sleep at all. It's just in her nature; the way she's built. From the way she was talking, it sounded like she feels this had something to do with this event. I would presume that's something she's going to discuss with her doctors to find a way to correct it.
I also wanted to let everyone know here or on facebook that I have her log in information on both, so if you see her logged in, it might be me doing a couple things for the forum that I can't actually do on my account, but that she can do on hers. On facebook, it would be to help publicize the game threads, etc. which are created. Kasey, Angi and I already kind of tag team the forum's twitter account so Angi and I will continue to do that.
You've been really great and supportive. I've had a chance to talk to you, Kim, Mark and Cam on twitter and I could see Kasey's eyes water up when she heard that. She doesn't like people making a big fuss over her. She actually prefers it the other way around.
In case you are wondering, she is planning on going to the Stanford-Oregon game tomorrow night. Her neurologist felt it would be a good environment; kind of light and fun and that it would do well for Kasey's spirits, which aren't quite as high as they usually are. She's really a glass-half-full type of person who always tries to see the best in people.
That's about it for now. We'll know quite a bit more in about three or four hours. At least we know that she's going to be all right and that she's got a lot of support to help her through this.

Thanks for clearing everything up there, Julie. I was going to try and put something like that together but my classes have been brutal today. I am on my lunch right now and waiting for my dad to text with anything new regarding this morning's tests. I'm worried but I probably should not be since my sister aces every test she takes!
I am thankful to those who have shown support for her during this time. There is no doubt in my mind that my oldest sister will come back better than ever. She is just like that.
To anyone who is wondering about the site. Nothing is really going to change. Kasey is going to take a step back from it for a while Julie and I have already talked and we will be taking care of things. If you have any questions please contact us.

I talked to her mom a little bit ago and all the tests came out great! Angi is right, the girl aces every test she takes! lol
She's being released from the hospital around 2 this afternoon. After the paperwork and all, she'll probably be back home by 3 at the latest. I'm taking some clothes over to the hospital now before I go to my afternoon class. I hope to be back home by the time she gets there.

I just found out! I'm so relieved! I was hopeful but cautious because I knew she was on a mission to try to leave today. When I got the texts from my parents (at the same time) I wanted to cry.
I am thinking now is the hard part with her having to change some things. I know her though and I know she will figure it out and all of us will help. I will be picking up Monika from daycare at about the same time Kassandra gets home. I cannot wait to tell Monika this!

I am so proud of all of you! You have handled a very scary situation with dignity & class & in such a loving way. I want you to know how very proud I am of you & how thankful I am to have made your acquaintance through twitter. Now that I am retired & trying to find my own new place in this digital world, I have found that supporting you with humor & compliments & by upholding you in praying is a worthy job. Being the preacher's wife CAN scare people away, but it hasn't bothered any of you. I appreciate that. So blessings on all of you. And to Miss K. slowing down will take some time... Read a magazine or book or watch NCIS. Last episode was good.

We all care about her a lot and she knows we all want the best for her. She hasn't posted anything online yet, but she's read the comments here and on the twitter chats. I'm not sure when she's going to post anything, but I know she cried while reading the comments. She's very touched by them. Jean, you and Mark and Kim have been terrific during the past few days. You already know about my frantic tweets the other night. You're definitely not scaring people away! Kasey happens to love NCIS. We're going to watch it online when we get a chance!

Thanks for the updates. Really appreciate them. Rest up Kasey and I'll talk to you soon. Between twitter and here, we wanted to make sure Kasey's friends know how things are going with her. She's going to pull through this. The support has been terrific and I know she both is humbled and appreciates it a great deal.

Hey Brian. She was actually released yesterday. Resting today, but insists on going to the game tonight. She's been really quiet but her parents are with her. She'll be back, but is just taking it a little easy for a while. She loves NCIS. a marathon sounds really good. Maybe we'll make a day of it on Saturday or Sunday. Angi will be running a game thread for tonight's game. It's already been started, so that should be fun.

i first of all want to thank you for your support and well wishes. it's been a very trying time these past three days, but i know with God, my family and my friends at my side, things will turn out all right. sometime over the next few days i will write more extensively about what happened monday night, what the believed causes are and what is ahead from here. i'll likely put it in blog form. second, while i will still be an administrator here, Julie and Angi will be running things, at least for a while. i trust each of these girls completely. additionally, Brian has been made a moderator so he can help keep an eye on the site and help to keep it family friendly. third, the events of the past week have been a wake up call for me. there will be changes in certain courses of action, but i will never cease being your friend nor striving for my goals. i'm simply going to be a little smarter about how i go about it. and finally, since this is a sports forum, i leave you with two sets of two words each. thank you and Go Stanford! ~ MKM
