Kassandra! My heart just dropped when I saw the heading to this post, when SurferGirl passed it on to me just awhile ago. So glad you're better, but I cannot imagine how scary things must have been...take rest for now, though I heard you're still eager to go to the game tonight! I'm sure you'll listen to your body..and take the necessary measures/adjustments in the coming days and weeks. Lots of love to you - and please take care of yourself - doctor's orders! - I don't need to tell you, health comes first, before any of this other stuff.

i first of all want to thank you for your support and well wishes. it's been a very trying time these past three days, but i know with God, my family and my friends at my side, things will turn out all right. sometime over the next few days i will write more extensively about what happened monday night, what the believed causes are and what is ahead from here. i'll likely put it in blog form. second, while i will still be an administrator here, Julie and Angi will be running things, at least for a while. i trust each of these girls completely. additionally, Brian has been made a moderator so he can help keep an eye on the site and help to keep it family friendly. third, the events of the past week have been a wake up call for me. there will be changes in certain courses of action, but i will never cease being your friend nor striving for my goals. i'm simply going to be a little smarter about how i go about it. and finally, since this is a sports forum, i leave you with two sets of two words each. thank you and Go Stanford! ~ MKMReally glad to here you are ok. I got worried for a bit when I first heard. Thanks for making me a moderator, unless you were referring to a different Brian, lol. GO DUCKS!!!!! OOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not know how to break this gently, but it is another Brian.

Plus I saw Brian under moderators, clicked it, then I saw it wasn't my profile, lol. Sometimes I hate having a common name, lol.

No one keeps my sister down. Just plain no one!

I hesitated posting about this but I want everyone to know that my sister is doing very well. She says each day that she is feeling much more like herself. At this point she is understandably a little quieter than usual. It's more in her tone of voice than anything else. It has been mentioned here a couple of times that she needs to cut back on some things in her life. The monstrous number of different things she takes on is astounding. Not that we ever expected this to happen, some of us had wondered how she juggled everything. She knows she has a lot of support and I believe she is learning that she does not have to do it all herself.
I want to acknowledge and thank Julie for her quick action on Monday night. She told us when my sister crashed Julie just had a bad feeling and went directly to her room and revived her before taking her to the hospital. The hospital staff performed their duties well, with the notable exception of providing misinformation on more than a couple occasions. It was frustrating to say the least.
My sister will bounce back. I think Angi said it best above. You can't keep her down. She's already catching up on her lectures from the past week. She's going to ease into things over the next couple of weeks. I just wanted to tell her friends here about this and thank you for your support. Thank you.

Thanks so much for the update Brian. Sorry to hear that the hospital experience wasn't as good as it should have been. Just good to know she's doing well considering everything. So thankful it wasn't anything more serious. Glad to hear she will take things slowly in the coming weeks. I know she's a very driven person, which I've admired of course - but putting herself and her health first is key - which I have no doubt she'll do when thinking about what projects etc to take on at a given time. Best wishes to the entire family.

Hi OregonDoc. The quality of care was excellent. There were too many people telling us different things. Most of those things turned out not to be true. Honestly, this was not nearly as serious as it could have been. Most of it was finding out what happened and there was really just too much speculation. My sister will tell more about what actually happened at some point.
I really appreciate your kind words and you're right that she needs to prioritize herself first much more often. I also appreciate your sentiments on behalf of our family.
On another note, my sister told me that you just became a doctor. Congratulations! I also think you've got a great avatar!

Hey Brian - yeah I graduated about two years ago from a European med school, but have spent last 2 years working on board exams and getting experience here in the States. In middle of applying for training position/residency right now...anwyays - yes again, just thankful it wasn't something worse...and God Willing she will get back to full health and with a more manageable routine, especially for the last bit of her time at Stanford. You're most welcome - several of your sisters have been so sweet and kind as much as people can be over social media - so I appreciate it very much, so the least I can do is pass on my good wishes/thoughts/prayers. And thanks for the compliment on the avatar.

I'm sorry for the delay. It sounds like you've had a busy time over the past couple of years. Sure there are more steps but you are definitely on your way.
My sisters are a bunch of nuts. We've got the academic, the musician and the athlete. I'm not sure what pursuits my youngest sister will go into, but I predict she will be a combination of some or all of her older sisters.
I have no doubt whatsoever that Kasey will be all right. It's not even the amount of what she does which is the issue. It is that she has a huge heart and a huge drive. I don't want to see either of those diminish. She is a remarkable person. She works hard and studies hard. In fact, she told me Wednesday that she was already caught up with the lectures she missed. I'm not concerned. She knows what she has to do and she will do it. As her oldest brother, I will be a resource to help her.
I don't know if you saw the Blazers and Raptors game thread. My oldest sister was back to her form. I only lurked and did not post. What I saw was the incredible love Kasey has for the Blazers players. Again, Angi is correct. You can't keep Kasey down!
Thank you again for your caring and support of my sister! Yes, that is a Dr. Batum avatar!

Take it easy on yourself, I know you're always so busy! hi and welcome to the forum Nicole! this happened a few months ago and i've done a lot to prevent something like this from happening in the future. in the four months since this incident, i've learned to sleep deeper and longer. that has been a huge thing. in fact, i would say that has been the biggest thing. i was also working on a couple things before which i've been able to share with others and they've been wonderful about taking those over. in the end, i feel more rested than i've ever been. i feel rejuvenated. i'm doing terrific if i say so myself!
