July 5, 2016 -- The Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly acquired point guard Shabazz Napier via trade from the Orlando Magic, multiple sources have reported.
The third-year guard out of the University of Connecticut will essentially replace Brian Roberts, who is a free agent and is not expected to be retained by the team. In exchange for Napier, the Blazers are sending cash considerations to Orlando.
Napier, 6'1" and 175 pounds, averaged 3.7 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists for the Magic last season. He has posted averages of 4.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists over his two-year career.
Napier was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 2014 with the 24th selection of the first round, but was traded on draft night to the Miami Heat, where he played his rookie season. He spent last season with the Magic.
Napier averaged 13.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 143 games at Connecticut, where he was a member of two NCAA championship teams.

This is a good move. He won't take up a lot of money and it helps to have a backup point guard.
Right now their reporting that Festus Ezili is meeting with the Blazers tonight.
