1/30/17 --
In my twenty year career as a sports journalist I have been fortunate too meet and talk with many of the all time greats. This past weekend, I had the pleasure of sitting down with an athelete that figures too be placed among them some day.
His name is Jeremy Johnson,a quarterback from the college of Charleston, a prospect for the newest franchise in the IFL, The Salt Lake City Screaming Eagles.
Jeremy began our discussion by explaining that he was on the practice squad of the NFL New England Patriots. He told me that he didn't get much of an opportunity so he tried out for various German teams after his release and didn't get much from them either.
This dedicated and devoted individual from Beaumont Texas, didn't give up. He kept working out still hoping too get to the NFL.
His journey back will begin here in Utah, after catching the eye of Shawn Liotta, coach of the fans for the Screaming Eagles and his staff he is excited about the opportunity that he has been given too show that he belongs in the Indoor game.
Jeremy thinks of himself along the same lines as former Washington Redskins and current Cleveland Browns' great Robert Griffin III. He is a mobile type who can allude rushers and make the big play.
He must first win the job of starting quarterback but given his desire and impressive attitude look for big things from him in the future.

I know Coach McCarthey told Bannock that Johnson and Verlon Reed are in direct competition for the QB spot. It could be an interesting battle between the two during training camp.
