WICHITA FALLS, TX - The Wichita Falls Nighthawks scored 21 straight points in the fourth quarter to break open a relatively close game to pull away from the Nebraska Danger Saturday night, 65-48.
Tyron Laughinghouse caught three touchdown passes from Charles McCullum, and Tyler Williams scored three of his four touchdowns in the second half.
The Danger pulled to within two points at 44-42 with 10:38 left in the game on a one-yard run by quarterback Derrick Bernard. The Nighthawks answered when Williams scored on a 57-yard kickoff return and a five-yard run, and Laughinghouse caught a 12-yard touchdown from McCullum to take a 65-42 lead.
Williams had 254 all-purpose yards in the game, including 182 kickoff return yards.
McCullum completed 24 of 33 passes for 255 and six touchdowns for the Nighthawks. Williams rushed for 20 yards and a touchdown ,and caught seven passes for 52 yards and two scores. Laughinghouse caught seven passes for 94 yards and three touchdowns. Jordan Jolly added four catches for 65 yards and a touchdown. Kenny Walton led the defense with nine tackles and Simon Poti recorded a sack.
Bernard completed 10 of 17 passes for 96 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed 11 times for 36 yards, with four trips to the end zone. Dimitri Stimphil had six receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown, Rob Brown caught four balls for 29 yards, and Eric Thomas recorded four receptions for 25 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The Nighthawks will host the Spokane Empire on March 3 at 5:05 p.m. (pacific). The Danger are next in action on March 11 when they host the defending champion Sioux Falls Storm for a 5:05 p.m. (pacific). Both games, as well as all of the leagues games this season are available for streaming on the IFL's Youtube channel.
