DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Barnstormers scored twice in the last 6:08 to come back from a 12-point fourth quarter deficit to claim the home win over the Green Bay Blizzard Saturday night, 27-26.
Down 26-14 with just under 12 minutes left in the final stanza, the Barnstormers went on a four-play, 20 yard drive capped by Keshaud Spence's two-yard run. to pull within five points. With 1:17, Travis Partridge found Brady Roland for a 31 yard touchdown pass to put Iowa up for good.
The Blizzard scored on a three-yard run from Darryl Ragsdale in the third quarter, then on a 25-yard pass from Jarred Evans to take the 26-14 lead with 11:43 left in the fourth quarter.
Lucas Hefty's five yard run with 3:35 left in the second quarter to give Iowa a 14-12 halftime lead.
The Barnstormers held 234-191 edge in total offense, but the Blizzard had 124 rushing yards. The Blizzard were flagged for 13 accepted poenalties for 80 yards, while the Barnstormers committed just four infractions totaling 17 yards.
Partridge went 13 of 22 for 202 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Ryan Balentine caught five passes for 85 yards and a score, and Brady Roland added five catches for 79 yards and a trip to the end zone. Hefty added 30 yards to his receiving tally. Javicz Jones led Iowa with nine total tackles and a sack. Vincent Taylor had eight total tackles, and Daejohn Love had an interception.
Evans, making his first start for Green Bay in place of Matt Behrendt, completed six of 14 passes for 79 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also led all rushers with 77 yards on 20 carries. Ragsdale rushed nine times for 35 yards and three touchdowns, and caught two passes for 24 yards. Marquel Willis and Dorian Buford each had a pair of passes, for 28 and 27 yards, respectively. Willis recorded a receiving touchdown. Tyrell Pearson and Keith Reynolds each had seven total tackles. J.D. Roussel recorded an interception.
The Barnstormers (4-2) will host the Nebraska Danger (4-3) on April 15 for a 5:05 p.m. (pacific) kickoff. The Blizzard (2-5) will travel to Sioux Falls to battle the Storm (6-0) on April 15 at 5:05 p.m. (pacific).
