The Arizona Rattlers climbed to the top of the Ifl mountain by defeating a strong Sioux Falls Storm team that sat there for a number of seasons.
The Rattlers are a talented group, loaded with a number of weapons. They were capable of winning every time they stepped on the field. The 2017 season figured too be of adjustment to a new league that many feel is a step below there former league, the Arena Football League. The team overcame this by posting one of the league's better records (an Intense Conference best of 12-4) and, come playoff time, was ready to claim the throne.
This off-season has brought change for the Rattlers and the Indoor Football League as a whole. Teams have dropped out, leaving the league's future in somewhat questionable status.
In addition to this, several strong players have become available to the remaining franchises to strengthen rosters. Verlon Reed, former starting quarterback for the Salt Lake City Screaming Eagles, was one of those players. The Rattlers, needing an upgrade to the quarterback position, quickly signed Reed.
He figures too be the missing piece that the team will need to defend its title. The move could be compared to putting two great stars together on a basketball team. If the stars work together the potential for great success lies in the future if they don't it could turn into disaster. The Rattlers are fortunate that they are guided well from the front office headed by Owner Ron Shirts to the field where Coach Kevin Guy runs a tight ship making sure his players don't go off the wrong track so to speak.

Signing Reed was a terrific move by the Rattlers. However, I would have rather the IFL wait to start free agency until all the new teams have been established. Reed is from Ohio, so he might have rather signed with nearby West Michigan had he learned that they were joining the IFL.
