5/5/18 --
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - The Arizona Rattlers outscored the Cedar Rapids Titans 30-0 over a span of 21 minutes during the second and third quarters and came away with a __ win in week 11 of the Indoor Football League season tonight at U.S. Cellular Center.
With the win, the Rattlers improved to a league-best 8-1, while the Titans fell to 1-8.
The Rattlers scored on their first possession, with Jeff Ziemba finding Dezmon Epps for a 16-yard touchdown toss. The Titans came right back with a heavy dose of Raphael Lawson-Gayle, who capped the drive with a two-yard touchdown run. The Rattlers scored on Darrell Monroe's seven-yard run midway through the quarter but, once again, the Titans answered when Jake Medlock hitMarquel Wade for 26 yards, giving the Titans a 14-13 lead with 6:35 left in the quarter. Arizona scored three minutes later on Ziemba's 17-yard scamper.
Medlock ran it in from a yard out a minute and a half into the second quarter to pull the game even, 20-20. Ziemba then found Jarrod Harrington on a 15-yard touchdown strike to give the Ratters the lead, which they extended to 14 points on Monroe's four yard run with 51 second to go in the first half. The Rattlers led 34-20 at halftime.
On the Titans' first drive of the second half, Chris McAllister recovered Medlock's fumble and fell into the end zone and the score was doubled, 40-20, in favor of the Rattlers. After the Titans turned it over on downs, Monroe scored his third touchdown of the night, a two-yard run to make it a four-possession lead for the Rattlers, 47-20. Cedar Rapids ended its scoring drought on Javon Bell's 25-yard touchdown pass from Medlock.
Bell's eight-yard pass from Medlock, followed by the two hooking up for the two-point conversion, narrowed the Rattlers lead to 50-34 mid way through the final quarter. After Ricarlo Bell recovered Ziemba's fumble, the Titans scored on a 28-yard pass from Medlock to Wade. Lawson-Gayle's two-point conversion run made the score 50-42 with 3:05 left in regulation. Ziemba's two-yard strike to Anthony Amos put the Rattlers up 57-42 with 57 seconds left.
Monroe, who scored an IFL-record 11 rushing touchdowns in last week's win over the Titans, surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark for the third straight game.
