During training camp, Storm radio broadcaster Rich Roste submitted the following questionnaire to players of the team (SCtoC also submitted a similar questionnaire its own). Roste calls storm games for KWSN AM 1230/KWSN FM 98.1, as well as the Kurtiss Riggs Show every Monday night at 4 p.m. pacific (6 p.m. central). The players' answers here are their direct responses to the questionnaire. The Storm were kind enough to forward these questionnaires to SCtoC for use in this series. We would like to extend our appreciation to Roste and Storm Director of Media Relations Kayley Shade for allowing us to bring these to you here on SCtoC.
We will feature this series throughout the course of the season.
Wide receiver and kick returner Mike Tatum is in his sixth season with the Storm after having broken into the IFL in 2012 with the Everett Raptors. He also spent three seasons playing in the now-defunct Continental Indoor Football League prior to joining the IFL. On May 5 he became the IFL's all-time leader in all-purpose yards (receiving, rushing and and returns), and now boasts a total of 6.976 following week 15 of this season. Current IFL players B.J. Hill of the Green Bay Blizzard is third on that list with 6,394 yards and Ryan Balentine of the Iowa Barnstormers is sixth with 6.009.
Tatum, 5'10" and 170-lbs., hails from Columbus, Ohio. He has caught 39 passes for 617 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. His 617 receiving yards are just six shy of league-leading Eric Thomas' 623, and his 15.8 yards per catch are tops in the IFL. He also has 11 kickoff returns for 196 yards. He has been named IFL Offensive Player of the Week five times during his career. Tatum and his wife, Lashe, have a son, Avante, and three daughters; Angel, and twins MaKayla and MaKyla. Off the field, he works for the Sioux Falls School Board for Kids, Inc. Tatum wears number 23 with the Storm. He can be followed on twitter at M_Tatum1.
