MA8FL All-Stars at Bloomington Edge
What: The Edge continue their 2018 season as they welcome the All-Stars from the Mid American 8 Football League.
When: Saturday, July 14 at 5 p.m. pacific (7 p.m. central).
Where: Grossinger Motors Arena; Bloomington, Illinois.

The Mid American 8 Football League is an eight-man football league which plays their games outdoors. The league is headquartered in Decatur, Illinois, which is located just short of an hours drive from their opponent this week, the Edge in Bloomington. Ten make up the MA8FL, and the top players from the league will form the All-Star Team.
The Muscatine Riverhawks capped the 2018 season with a 41-40 win over the Sagamon County Seminoles to claim the MA8FL Championship on May 27. The Championship Game was held at East Peoria, Illinois. Rick Remeliu of the Peoria Punishers and Mike Harris of the Sangamon County Seminoles will serve as coaches of this All-Star Team on a roster which includes some of their own players. Remelius, per facebook, said it was an honor to coach the All-Stars in this game:
"As I use things to stay busy to keep my mind off things cuz I've been all over the place lately ... today it hit me. I started Thinking of All these years of football and what they have meant to me, well this Saturday night I get to coach the MA8FL's All Star team against the Bloomington Edge. Even some of my players from the Peoria Punishers are playing in this game. I pray I serve these players well, do my best to give my new team every opportunity to win this game, leave the arena win or lose with dignity, class and with heads held high giving God the glory for our W."

The Edge were poised to join the Indoor Football League this season but, due to a legal dispute brought forth by their former league, Champions Indoor Football, they were forced to sit out a season. That led to this late summer schedule. This is the second game in this slate; this time featuring an opponent more accustomed to playing games outdoors rather than in an arena. That could prove to be an advantage or, potentially, a disadvantage, depending how this game plays out.
Bloomington will look at these summer games at Grossinger Motors Arena as bridging the gap between their 2017 CIF season and their 2019 IFL season. Interestingly, their first game started just two hours before the IFL's championship game, the United Bowl, on July 7. The Edge are located in Bloomington, Illinois, adjacent to Normal, home of the Frontier League's baseball Cornbelters.
In their first game, Bllomington faced the Rockford Rams, which had not lost a game prior to last week. The Edge ran away from the Rams en route to a 53-18 win in Bloomington. Wide receiver Marcus Lewis scored touchdowns in both halves, but it was the defense which stood out in this one. The defensive line of David Powell, Tim Short and Brad Wolfe wreaked havoc on the Rams' backfield, while linebacker Mitch Globe led the team in tackles and defensive back Mitch Moore recorded an interception.
