Happy few days after Thanksgiving everyone! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and with Week 12 in the books, it is time for me to tell you my Random Thoughts & Stuff. Let us begin!
Thoughts on the Thanksgiving Day games
-I cannot believe that Matthew Stafford choked against the Bears. This is a guy who has led countless game winning drives and is one of the most clutch QBs in the NFL and to see him fall apart late in the game is astounding. On PFT Live on Friday, hosts Mike Florio and Chris Simms floated the idea that "The Patriot Way" has broken Matthew Stafford and other Lions players. I can buy that, considering Lions players appeared to quit appeared to quit early in the year. If "The Patriot Way" has indeed broken the Lions, then HC Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn should be fired after the season. Wait a second, This commentary sounds familiar:

10 weeks later this still holds true. Guess I was right.
-Well, Good Ole Texas Boy Colt McCoy won a game for his childhood favorite Dallas Ostriches. This now will lead to the worst possible timeline for fans of The Birds in Blue. The Ostriches go 8-8 win the NFC East, Papa and Little Ostrich will brag about how they were right and everyone else was wrong, give Coach Ostrich a 5 year extension and not hire Oklahoma HC Lincoln Riley.
-After watching the Falcons and 49ers for the pas 2 seasons it has become blatantly apparent, that Kyle Shanahan made a mistake leaving the Falcons. Let me explain: The Falcons personnel fit Shanahan's offense and Shanahan's offense needed the Falcons personnel. If the Falcons decide to fire Dan Quinn after the year, I try to make a trade for Kyle Shanahan and if I'm Kyle Shanahan I try to force my way out of the 49ers to get to the Falcons. If that doesn't happen more games for the Falcons go the way of Thanksgiving Night. BTW, Mike Tirico, Rodney Harrison, and Tony Dungy should be in the booth more often because those guys were great in the booth.
Danger Mayfield refuses to hug Hue Jackson
Browns QB Danger Mayfield threw 4 TDs on Sunday against the Bengals whom had recently added Hue Jackson. Above was his lack of desire to hug his former coach. Mayfield then explained his decision via Mary Kay Cabot:
"Left Cleveland, goes down to Cincinnati, I don’t know. It’s just somebody that was in our locker room, asking for us to play for him and then goes to a different team we play twice a year."
Considering that Hue Jackson recently went on a Browns-bashing media tour, I think Danger Mayfield's comments are absolutely fair. One other thing to mention: Hue Jackson was hired by the Bengals to give the Bengals a better chance to win this game because y'know Hue was the HC of the Browns a month ago (embolden that) and could give the Bengals all sorts of inside knowledge on the Browns. Well, even as a defensive assistant Hue is a terrible coach, because considering the Bengals got completely torched by the Browns he failed at his job. He should be fired... again.
The Benching of Bortles and the firing of Hackett
The Jaguars decided after their 7th straight loss to make some changes. First, starting QB Blake Bortles was benched for backup Cody Kessler (something which should have happened already) and second OC Nathaniel Hackett was fired. Will these changes lead to anything positive for the Jags? The QB change yes, the OC change I don't know. What I do know is that you should absolutely read this article this article where Tom Coughlin talks about the state of the Jags. My takeaway? If things don't turn around Marrone will be out as HC.
Other thoughts:
-The Dolphins, Cardinals, Tinys, Jets, and Raiders are still bad and in the case of the Dolphins, Cardinals, and Jets should make organizational changes.
-Jameis Winston's performance Sunday reminded me of this SI cover.
-Apparently, Bruce Arians is interested in coaching the Browns and only the Browns. Even though the Browns have made improvements, he should more open minded.
-Congrats to Phillip Rivers for having quite possibly the best performance in a single game ever for a QB.
-Lamar Jackson will lead to the Ravens to the playoffs, and if he ends up being benched they will not make the playoffs.
-If the Panthers go from 6-2 to missing the playoffs, Ron Rivera may find himself looking for another HC job. No inside info, just an observation.
-Case Keenum and Kirk Cousins both led their teams to big wins and adding a new layer to the NFL playoff picture. The battle rages on.
-Watch out for the Seahawks.
-My thoughts and condolences go out the McNair family, with Bob McNair passing away. He'll be missed and may he rest in peace.
With all of that said I hope everyone enjoyed this week's edition of Random Thoughts & Stuff and I hope ya come back next week. This is spiderfan out.

From the Week 2 edition of Random Thoughts & Stuff
10 years ago the Detroit Lions became the first team in NFL history to go 0-16. What they did get for accomplishing this feat? Georgia QB Matthew Stafford, who helped dig them out of their winless hole and became the first great Lions QB since the Hall of Famer Bobby Layne (Scott Mitchell had one great season but he didn't sustain that success). Now 10 years later, the Lions have somehow turned back into the bad team they were in the pre-Stafford era.
How did this happen? This is a team after all who is coming off back to back winning seasons and has made the playoffs 2 of the previous 4 seasons. I put the blame on new HC Matt Patricia who has created a culture that is causing players to quite literally quit on the team
You see, for as great as a Head Coach as Bill Belichick as is, his assistants end up being flat out terrible as head coaches. Whether it be Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Josh McDaniels, Bill O'Brien, Nick Saban (who couldn't coach at the pro level), and even Charlie Weiss (who wasn't an NFL head coach, but had the biggest buyout in the history of college football) they don't have success at either the NFL level or in Weiss' case NCAA level.
They all try to be Belichick but being as there can be only one Belichick they all fail and Matt Patricia is just the next one in line. As I said last week I expect Patricia to be a one and done coach and he will probably take Lions GM Bob Quinn down with him. Quinn after all, was the guy who thought it was a good idea to fire Jim Caldwell and replace him with Patricia. I think that was a bad idea.
