I recently had the opportunity too sit down with one of the most delightful owners in the Indoor Football League, Doug Bland of the Quad City Steamwheelers who was able to weigh in on various topics about his team and league. He stated that he didn’t think of the original Steamwheeler franchise in the same way that people thought of the 72 Miami Dolphins. The two squads were both undefeated but one was an outdoor team on a 100 yard field and the other an indoor team on a fifty yard field. The original Wheelers began to unravel after that second season due to recruiting violations and didn’t make an impact until the revival of the team last season. He talked about how he appreciated the support of the fans and hopes too continue to enjoy good support. He didn’t have much too say about the merger and expansion rumors be reaffirmed that he was a league man an felt the league would proceed in a positive fashion that would put it on good footing well into the future.
