BREAKDOWN
OVERVIEW
Somewhat little is known about each of these teams, and that could be a benefit to either, or a detriment to the other. This game is a story of new teams to the Indoor Football League. One has had extraordinary success in Champions Indoor Football. The Gladiators have won the past two championships in that league, and hope to make their mark in the top tier of the sport with their entry to the IFL. The other is looking to carry on the tradition of indoor football in North Texas after the demise of the Texas Revolution last season. The Fighters want to come out flying and fill the NFL off-season void. Overall, it's all about these coaches.
GLADIATORS
The Gladiators join the Sioux Falls Storm as the two teams who have won an IFL championship. Duke City, Based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, are in their sixth season of indoor football. They have won the past two CIF championships and moved to the higher-level IFL They may find things a bit challenging, ut will look to re-take the IFL crown from the Storm. Cornelius "Pig" Brown, moves over from the now-defunct Nebraska Danger to take the helm of the team. Brown led the Danger to the playoffs -- and a playoff win last season. He is already an IFL Hall of Famer and has a strong offensive mindset. Veteran indoor quarterback Nate Davis is likely to start under center. He is a steady passer and should give Gladiators' fans some confidence. The team has added, per its training camp roster, veteran receivers Demarius Washington and Gregory Dent, Jr. Look for Donte Lynch and Paul Robinson to make an impact on defense.
FIGHTERS
In recent memory, you would be hard-pressed to find a more formidable head coach to make the transition from the Arena Football League to the IFL. Clint Dolezel is doing just that. He was masterful as the leader of the Philadelphia Soul capacity. Dolezel is a winner in multi levels and will attempt to add to his resume as he leads the Fighters during their first season. The offense will be in good hands as former Soul QB Dan Raudabaugh has assumed the offensive coordinator duties. He is an Arena Football League veteran who knows how to win. He also was Dolezel's quarterback for a number of years in the IFL, so the familiarity is there. Jonathan Bane is the front runner to start at quarterback. Though the official roster had yet to be released, Bane is an experienced passer who can help put the Fighters on the map. Eric Bruce, a defensive back, it the only defender on the accumulated roster, though many more will be released prior to this game.
