Note: Due to the 2020 IFL season being eventually cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, much of the references in this preview will pertain to the 2019 season.
Note 2: This week, and the next two weeks, are not considered yet week 1 of the season. Week 1 of the official season is May 15-16, though these pre-week 1 games will be counted against the standings. We at SCtoC will call these as Weeks 0-1, 0-2 and 0-3 to denote their legacies in the schedule's timeline.
The Bucks finished the season 2-12 in eighth place of 10 teams in the final IFL standings in 2019. They did not qualify for the playoffs. The Blizzard finished 9-5 in fourth, qualifying for the playoffs. They lost in the first round to the now-defunct Nebraska Danger, 45-40.

Breakdown
BUCKS OVERVIEW
Bismarck is the only active team to have taken the field in 2020 prior to the IFL postponing, and eventually cancelling the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bucks fell to the San Diego Strike Force, 50-36, on March 8, 2020 at Bismarck. The Bucks will look to improve upon their 2-12 finish in 2019. They failed to qualify for the playoffs after having made the jump to the IFL from Champions Indoor Football over the previous off-season. Head coach Rod Miller is putting together a young, but talented roster to take the field in 2021. Wide receiver Ricardo (Rico) Johnson is back with the Bucks, as is kicker Cody Barber. Malik Brown and Deion Carter are players to look out for in the backfield. The Bucks have a pair of quarterbacks on the roster in Richard Stammetti and rookie Glen Cuielette. As of the writing of this preview, it is unknown which will start the opener. Miller's roster consists of several free agents and players new to the IFL. A win in the opener against a formidable Blizzard team would go a long way to building a sense of cohesiveness this early in the season.

Kicking: Cody Barber 22/33 XP, 6/20, FG, long 45.
BLIZZARD OVERVIEW
Though they did not see the field last year, the Blizzard remain the feel-good story of 2019. The improved their record from 2-12 the previous year, earned a home-field playoff date and head coach Corey Roberson was named IFL Coach of the Year. Roberson and company are going to look to take the next step among a tough IFL field of returning teams and a half-dozen newcomers. Green Bay's core from two years ago appears to be in tact. As of this writing, quarterback Lenorris Footman returns, as well as top wide receivers Keshawn Taylor and Kezlow Smith. Running back Rameses Owens also is on the roster and is a red zone threat on the ground. Defensive back Bakari Triggs and linebacker Dayshawn Taylor will anchor the defense along with veteran Keith Lewis who played last for the Carolina Cobras of the National Arena League. Former Cedar Rapids River King Henry Nell is on the roster to take care of the kicking duties. Opening the 2021 season with a win at the home confines of the Resch Center would extend the forward momentum which the Blizzard started building in 2019.
