Breakdown

BARNSTORMERS
Iowa righted its ship last week after their week 5 home loss to the Duke City Gladiators with a 49-42 win over the visiting Bismarck Bucks. The Barnstormers will seek to go to 3-1 on this trip to Tucson. They struggled in their first visit, but came away with a 63-58 win over the Sugar Skulls due to a late rally. Iowa faces Dixie Wooten, the head coach who led them to a United Bowl win in 2018, but who is now with the Sugar Skulls. Daquan Neal is one of the best, if not the best quarterback in the IFL right now. He is completing 53 percent of his passes for 612 yards, 14 touchdowns and zero interceptions. He also leads the team with 198 yards and five scores on the ground. Elad Covaliu is a reliable rusher with 117 yards and a pair of touchdowns of his own. Connor Hollenbeck and Carrington Thompson lead a talented receiving group which could include Andrew Mahoney should he be back from injury. Tony Jones leads the team with 22 tackles, while John McClure adds 17 tackles and an interception.

SUGAR SKULLS
The Sugar Skulls were dominant early in last week's 20-point win over the Duke City Gladiators. They held on and were able to pick up their first win of the season. Tucson led Iowa nearly all the way in their first and only meeting ever on April 24, 2019. However, a late Barnstormers' score gave Iowa their 61-58 win. Dixie Wooten faces his former team for the first time, and lone time this season. Demry Croft has started the first couple of games for the Sugar Skulls and has completed 58 percent of his passes for 273 yards with seven touchdowns and just one pick. He also leads the team with 119 yards and a trio of scores on the ground. Mike Jones has three touchdowns to go along with his 89 rushing yards. Kent Shelby leads the team with 108 yards off nine grabs with three touchdowns. Ryan Balentine and Sheldon Augustine will figure into the passing game as well. Jajuan Harley and Matt Elam each have 10 sacks to lead the team through its young season. A Player to watch in the secondary is Cory Butler-Byrd.
