Breakdown
STORM
Despite coming off an impressive 52-27 win two weeks ago over the Bismarck Bucks, Sioux Falls has shown some kinks in its armor through the first seven games of the season. The Storm are at the midpoint of their season and have never before lost more than two games in through seven games of any season. They are out to avenge their week 8 loss to the Shock at home. Veteran Lorenzo Brown, Jr. has been the Storm quarterback for several years, but is sharing time with Tommy Armstrong, Jr., the IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2019 while with the now-defunct Nebraska Danger. Head coach Kurtis Riggs will likely alternate both quarterbacks in this game as well. Nate Chavious is a solid rusher averaging 38.9 yards a game with 11 touchdowns. Brandon Sheperd is among the IFL's best at receiver and is averaging 52.6 yards per game with a pair of scoring grabs. Marquis Hendrix leads the defense with 54 tackles, while Trey Wafford has 48 tackles, two interceptions and leads the team with six tackles for loss.
SHOCK
Spokane seems to be in a great position for a playoffs spot; currently in third place in the IFL standings. The Shock's loss to the Rattlers on June 23 is a bit of a double-edged coin as quarterback Charles McCullum was injured very late in the second quarter. Not having a backup with the team, they were forced to turn to wide receiver Jordan Jolly, who was unable to keep the offense up at the same pace of the Rattlers. McCullum has been solid this season but, if he can't go, Blake Sims could see his first-ever IFL action. Sims has been on the roster, but did not appear in week 10 against the Rattlers. There has been no official word on whether the Shock have signed another signal caller. Davonte Sapp-Lynch has seven all-purpose touchdowns and promises to have an impact on this game. Troy Edwards, Jr. and Kamrin Solomon are receivers to keep an eye on. Mike Green leads the team in tackles with 50 and Ameris Bailey has three sacks. Dominic Sanders and Cedric Poole each have two interceptions of opposing passers.
