Storm 31, Blizzard 21

GREEN BAY, WI - The Sioux Falls Storm held the Green Bay Blizzard offense to just four scoring plays as they held off the Blizzard for a 31-21 win today at the Resch Center.
In a game in which neither team looked their best, the Storm's win elevates their record to 5-4. The Blizzard fall to 4-5. Green Bay has yet to defeat Sioux Falls in now 22 tries. This is the first of two meetings between the teams this season. The Blizzard will visit the Storm during the final week of the season, on August 21 at Sioux Falls.
The teams started slowly, with the Blizzard fumbling and the Storm turning it over on downs. The Blizzard got on the board midway through the opening quarter on a 19-yard field goal from Jeff Budzien. The Storm answered with an 11-yard run from Nate Chavious. The Storm led 7-3 at the end of the quarter.
Sioux Falls went up 14-3 on a three yard run to the right side at the 7:40 mark of the second quarter. Brown rushed up the middle with 1:09 remaining and the Storm held a 21-3 by halftime.
Each team scored on a field goal in the third quarter; Sioux Falls a 30 yarder from Chase Vinatieri and Green Bay a 43-yarder from Budzien. The Storm led 24-6 heading into the final quarter.
Sioux Falls spent much of the fourth quarter running down the clock. The Blizzard managed to score on a nine-yard touchdown pass from Brook Bolles. The Storm went up 31-13 with 57.4 seconds remaining. The Blizzard were able to add another touchdown, courtesy of Bolles' 25-yard touchdown strike to Keshaun Taylor and the former's rush for a two-point conversion.
Brown threw for one score and rushed for another for the Storm, while Bolles threw for a pair of touchdowns and scored on a two-point conversion.
The Blizzard will visit the Iowa Barnstormers on July 24 at 5:05 p.m. The Storm will visit the Arizona Rattlers on July 24 with kickoff set for 6:05 p.m. All times listed are pacific daylight time. Click for the complete SCtoC 2021 Indoor Football League schedule.
