Breakdown
WRANGLERS
With the playoffs slowly becoming out of reach, Northern Arizona would like nothing more than to make a statement in their last five games, starting with this one against the second-place Fighters. It will be a tough road, but the Wranglers haven't given up all season and they don't plan to give up now. It's possible head coach Dominic Bramante will be back after missing the past two games due to the league's COVID-19 protocols. Verlon Reed, Jr. will be back at the helm under center (or shotgun, as it were). Reed is completing 52 percent of his passes for 824 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also is rushing for a modest 25 yards per game five five scores on the ground. Todd Athey has become Reed's top target since joining the team four weeks ago. He, James "JJ" Brania-Hopp and Terrance Bynum are ample targets for Reed in the passing game. Robert Brown, Jr. has played both sides of the ball this season. Emmanuel Lacey and Russell Williams Jr. lead the defensive effort, and both have recorded an interception.
FIGHTERS
After starting the season 5-0, Frisco has lost two of their last three. They are in a tie for second in the IFL standings with the Spokane Shock; just a half game back of the Arizona Rattlers. The Fighters have an opportunity to right the ship with a win over the struggling Wranglers at home. Though it may be early to speak of such things, the Fighters control their own destiny, but if they win their remaining five games to earn themselves the number one seed, and home field throughout the playoffs. Jonathan Bane is one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the IFL. He comes in completing 61 percent of his passes for over a thousand yards with 21 touchdown tosses and just three picks. Demarcus Felton rushes for 45.2 yards per game with 15 scores, and backup quarterback Jerrod Heard makes an impact as a rusher as well. Lance Evans and Mark Munson each have 275 receiving yards and have combined for a dozen touchdowns collectively. Khalil Williams leads the defense with 34 tackles, and Charles Williams has a league-leading seven sacks.
