Breakdown
STORM
Sioux Falls finds itself in an unprecedented situation. Never in the Storm's tenure in the current IFL have they entered the playoffs with a sub-.500 record nor have not hosted a playoff game in the first round. The Storm hold a 2-1 edge in the playoffs over the Rattlers, including the 2017 and 2019 United Bowls. Lorenzo Brown, Jr. has a pair of United Bowl MVP awards under his belt. Most of the season he has split time with his apparent heir to the quarterbacking position, Tommy Armstrong, Jr. Brown is completing 56 percent of his throws 16 touchdowns and five picks. He also his rushing for 32.5 yards per game. Armstrong, the 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year, is completing 63 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and a pair of picks. He rushes for 31.9 yards per game. Both quarterbacks have 10 rushing touchdowns this season. Nate Chavious is one of the more durable backs in the league who leads the Storm with 41.5 yards per game and 19 scores. Chavious is also an outlet in the passing game. Brandon Sheperd's 44 catches for 570 yards and five touchdowns leads the Storm. Marquis Hendrix 94 tackles, and Trey Wafford has 90 tackles and four interceptions for the defense.
RATTLERS
Arizona is exactly where they want to be in this year's playoffs. The Rattlers are the top seed facing the team which ended their title hopes in the past two seasons. The Storm topped the Rattlers in the 2018 semifinal in overtime, 69-68, and held off the Rattlers in the 2019 United bowl, 56-53. The Rattlers are looking to strike back to their 2017 championship form and get a little revenge for the past two seasons. As the number one seed, Arizona has home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Drew Powell is the most versatile quarterback in the IFL and may be even better on the ground than through the air. He is completing a league-high 69 percent of his passes with 30 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He rushes for a league-high 64.4 yards per game with 35 scores. Veteran Darrell Monroe and rookie Nick LaSane are two more-than-capable rushers who have combined for 16 scores on the ground. Jarrod Harrington is the go-to receiver for the Rattlers who has 52 catches for 620 yards and 11 touchdowns. Look for Jamal Miles to get targets in this one. Devin Cockrell's 65 tackles lead the team, and Dillon Winfrey adds 59 and a league-high 11 picks. Nikolas D'Avanzo comes in with seven sacks.
