Breakdown
WRANGLERS
Northern Arizona is riding a three-game winning streak during which it outscored opponents 124-68. This after coming off a season-opening nine-point performance. Less Moss has his team on the right track, as the Wranglers are second in the Western Conference only to the 5-0 Arizona Rattlers. While they are 3-1, all three wins have come at home. They are looking for their first road win as a franchise. In a bit of irony, they are facing the same opponent against which they earned their first franchise win, in 2021. Over the win streak, Kaleb Barker has thrown for six touchdowns and just a single pick. He is completing 414 yards, and has rushed for a team-high 142, along with three touchdowns. Stanley "Boom" Williams leads the team with four touchdowns on the ground and another through the air. Quentin Randolph comes in with 13 catches for 187 yards and a touchdown, while Glen Gibbons, Jr. has nine grabs for 132 yards and a score. Mercardo Anderson's 27 tackles and three interceptions lead the team, and Ja'Quan Artis has recorded a trio of sacks. Brandon Fischer is an effective kicker with some range for the Wranglers.
SUGAR SKULLS
Tucson is a tale of two sides of the ball. The Sugar Skulls are second in the league at 50.0 points per game. What's reflective of their 1-3 record is that they allow a league-worst 54.8 points per game. The team certainly has talent on offense but, in order to make a playoff run, the Sugar Skulls will have to shore up their defense. This is their next opportunity to do just that. They have veterans who've yet to put it together on both sides of the ball. Daquan Neal remains one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the IFL. He is completing 70 percent of his passes for 614 yards with 13 touchdowns and one interception. He has scored a half-dozen times on the ground. Mike Jones comes in with 35.8 rushing yards per game and a team-high eight touchdowns. Arthur Jackson has been stellar, being third in the IFL with 275 yards and tied for second with seven touchdowns. Quinton Pedroza has 175 yards and a pair of scores. Per IFL official statistics, no Sugar Skull has more than 11 tackles. Rayshad Jackson had 10 last week, and two sacks in his debut. Logan Justus has been solid as the team's kicker.
