Strike Force 38, Bucks 28

BISMARCK, ND - The San Diego Strike Force took advantage of three first half turnovers and held off a second have surge by the Bismarck Bucks to claim a 38-28 win tonight at Bismarck Event Center.
The Strike Force improve to 4-2 on the season and their second road win of the season. The Bucks fall to 3-4 overall on the year and fall to 1-1 in non-conference play. San Diego now owns a 2-0 advantage over Bismarck with both wins coming in North Dakota
This was just the second all-time meeting between the Strike Force and the Bucks. Their first matchup was a 50-36 Strike Force win at Bismarck in the 2020 season opener before that season was postponed and, eventually, cancelled by the IFL. It's also the only meeting between the teams this season.
Bismarck plays three of its next four, and five of their next seven, games on the road. San Diego plays four of its next five games at home.
Tahj Tolbert got the start at quarterback for the Bucks, but was picked off by the Strike Force's David Haney on the opening drive. San Diego took advantage of the early turnover with a 20-yard touchdown strike to Troy Evans. After a missed field goal by Bismarck's Chase Allbaugh, Cluley and Evans hooked up again; this time for 30 yards and the Strike Force were up 14-0 midway through the opening quarter. Rob Brown returned the following kickoff to the San Diego one-yard line and the Bucks scored when Jayru Campbell plunged in from a yard out. The Strike Force countered with a one-yard touchdown run up the middle from Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks. Marquez Rodgers of the Strike Force recovered a Bucks fumble on the ensuing kickoff to put San Diego back in business. The Strike Force took a 21-7 lead into the second quarter.
The Strike Force added to their lead when Travon Van ran it in from two yards out, but the Bucks closed the gap on Campbell's long bomb to Alexis Rosario. Cluley was intercepted by Romon Morris to give the Bucks the ball right back. Their good fortune was short lived as Daquawn "Cheetah" Brown recovered Bismarck's fumbled pitch attempt and San Diego was back in business. Tanner Kuljian's 25-yard field goal was wide right with two seconds left. San Diego led 28-14 at the half.
Bismarck's defense forced a turnover on downs on San Diego's first drive of the second half. The Bucks' offense took over at their own 17. They were unable to take advantage and were forced to try a long field goal went went short and right. The Bucks forced another Strike Force turnover on downs. The score remained 28-14 in favor of the Strike Force after three quarters. The Bucks broke the stalemate with a 31-yard touchdown lob from Campbell to John Brunner. The Strike Force lead was 28-21 at the end of three.
The Strike Force went up 31-21 with a 25-yard field goal from Tanner Kuljian. The Bucks narrowed the gap to three on Benjamin Glines' two-yard run around the left side with 2:24 remaining in regulation. San Diego answered immediately when Van broke through the line and scampered 30 yards for the touchdown to extend the lead to 10 points with 1:50 left.
Cluley tossed a pair of touchdown passes for the Strike Force; both to Troy Evans. Van rushed for two touchdowns and Hanks ran for another. Campbell tossed two touchdown passes and ran for another for the Bucks. Glines had a touchdown on the ground, while Rosario and Brunner each had a scoring grab.
