Strike Force 37, Knight Hawks 36
4/8/23 --
HENDERSON, NV - What a difference an extra point can make. In a back-and-forth battle, that proved to be the difference as the San Diego Strike Force sneaked by the Vegas Knight Hawks tonight to earn their first win of the season.

The teams started out slowly on offense. They traded field goals; a 26-yarder from San Diego's Aedan Johnson followed by a 30-yarder courtesy of Vegas' Stevie Artigue. The contest was knotted at 3-3 at the end of the opening quarter.
Joe Mancuso, filling in for Knight Hawks' injured quarterback Daquan Neal, rushed for a one-yard touchdown midway through the second quarter. The Strike Force responded with a 40-yard touchdown bomb to Carlos Thompson, Sr. Artique hit a 40-yard field goal for the Knight Hawks with 2:25 to give Vegas a 13-10 lead which would last through halftime.

Mancuso tossed a nine-yard touchdown to Caleb Holley late in the quarter gave the Knight Hawks the lead. They led 27-20 heading into the fourth.
This made for an interesting fourth quarter. The Strike Force had to settle for a 25-yard field goal from Johnson. They were able to follow that up with a 44-yard touchdown bomb from Aaron Aiken to Thompson midway though the quarter to take a three-point lead. Stevie Artigue's 46-yard field goal three minutes later -- the longest in the IFL this season -- to tie the game with just over four minutes left. Travon Van's three-yard run gave the Strike Force a full touchdown lead with 1:35 left. Mancuso led the Knight Hawks down for a two-yard touchdown strike to Caleb Holley. Artique's point after try went wide left -- what turned out to be the game-decider -- and the Knight Hawks were left to try the deuce in order to take the lead. Artique's kick hit the netting under the scoreboard and the Strike force accomplished their mission and came away with their first win of the season.
Aaron Aiken came into the game in the second quarter and completed seven of 13 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.
