Blazers reveal alternative, sleeved jerseys
A couple of seasons ago, the league tried out new, sleeved jerseys on the Golden State Warriors (see photo of Harrison Barnes below). They were quickly panned by a majority of fans throughout the league via twitter comments and comments accompanying articles reporting them.
It was announced today that the Trail Blazers will likely wear a sleeved jersey at a home game this season. The new design with a white sleeved jersey with silver, red and black diagonal stripes down the sides, with lowercase classic lettering spelling out r-i-p c-i-t-y horizontally on the front, with the players' number under the "rip city." he back has the players name with the number underneath. Corresponding shorts will accompany the jerseys.
The new jerseys also come in a sleeveless version.

The Blazers are not the only team to feature a new sleeved jersey design. It is also expected the Lakers (whose design you can see below) will debut their new sleeved jerseys at some point during the upcoming season, though those jerseys appear to be more of an away jersey.
The NBA and Adidas have partnered up to create the new jerseys, seemingly for marketing, in an effort to give fan collectors yet another thing, or league "identity," to purchase from from the league.
"Fans embrace our identifies with whatever form they're in," NBA Vice President of Identity Christopher Arena said.
One additional change to the jerseys is a patch which will be worn on the back neckline of the jerseys of teams which have won at least one championship. The Blazers, who have a single championship under their belt, will feature a patch with a championship trophy and the year in which they won it (1977 - as if I had to tell you that!). Teams with more than one title will feature patches with the championship trophy and the number of titles they have won (i.e. 2X, 3X, etc.).
