Week 14 - Storm stave off Oilers, stay alive in playoff hunt

TULSA, OK - In much of a see-saw battle, the Sioux Falls Storm were able to do just enough to escape Tulsa with a 35-34 win over the Oilers tonight at BOK Center.
The Storm improve to 6-5 and in a tie with the Green Bay Blizzard for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. The Storm hold the current tiebreaker as both teams have four games remaining to play, including a matchup next week in Sioux Falls. The Blizzard had a bye this week.
The Oilers fell to 1-11 in their inaugural season, though they've been competitive in games as of late. They were eliminated after last week's IFL results. The Storm now lead the overall series between the teams, including a 52-35 win on May 6 at Sioux Falls.
Lorenzo Brown, Jr. went 10 of 22 for 105 yards and a touchdown for the Storm, while also rushing for 56 yards. Xavier Jackson rushed 17 times for 45 yards and three touchdowns. Jackson also caught three passes for 36 yards. Draysean Hudson had three catches for 39 yards and a score. Byron Edwards led the Storm defense with nine tackles and two interceptions. Clifton Duck added an interception to the mix.
Andrew Sale finished 17 of 32 for 147 yards with a touchdown and three picks. He and Dalton James each rushed for two touchdowns. Lex Rosario had five receptions for 56 yards, and Josh Crockett hauled in four passes for 41 yards and a score. Jordan Jones had an IFL single-game season high 19 tackles, while Kevin Moore added eight tackles and a sack.
The Storm accumulated 220 yards to 166 for the Oilers. They had a 103-yard edge on the ground, while the Oilers had a 42-yard edge in the passing game. Tulsa was penalized nine times for 36 yards and Sioux Falls was flagged eight times for 58 yards.
The Storm will host the Green Bay Blizzard on June 23 with kickoff set for 5:05 p.m. The Oilers will visit the Massachusetts Pirates on June 24 for a 4:05 p.m. kickoff. All times listed are pacific daylight time. Click for our complete 2023 IFL Schedule.
