Strike Force 59, Sugar Skulls 54

TUCSON, AZ - Nate Davis threw for five touchdown passes and Edward Vander rushed for two more as the San Diego Strike Force invaded southern Arizona and came away with a 59-54 win over the Tucson Sugar Skulls tonight at the Tucson Convention Center.
The Strike Force moved to within a game of the Northern Arizona Wranglers for the fourth and final playoff spot after the Wranglers were defeated at home by the Frisco Fighters tonight, 37-29. San Diego stands at 5-7. The Sugar Skulls remain in the third position with a mark of 6-5 on the season.
San Diego wins the season series, 2-1 with both wins coming at Tucson. The Sugar Skulls still lead the overall series between the teams, 7-3 which includes a 5-0 mark at Prescott Valley.
Davis completed 17 of 24 passes for 207 yards to go with his five passing scores. Vander gained 23 yards off seven carries and caught six passes for 60 yards. Carlos Thompson, Jr. had five catches for 64 yards, and Kentrez Bell added three grabs for 44 yards. Both hauled in two touchdowns each. DJ Morgan and Tariq Thompson recorded six tackles apiece.
Remone Atkins, who has started every game for the Sugar Skulls this season, finished 12 of 17 for 137 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 42 yards and three scores. Mike Jones finished with 38 yards off 12 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Dylan Person caught three passes for 63 yards and a touchdown, and Dequan Dudley added five receptions for 44 yards and a score. Trae'varis Ferrell led the defense with five tackles.
San Diego held a slight edge in total offense, 236 yards to 228. The Strike Force had an 80-yard advantage in the passing game, and the Sugar Skulls held a 62-yard edge in the rushing game. San Diego was penalized seven times for 31 yards and Tucson was flagged six times for 36 yards.
