Overview
The following is the 2024 schedule for the Portland Pickles.
We have broken this schedule down into two sections -- one for the West Coast League schedule and the other for the Wild Wild West League and a series of exhibition games. The Pickles play a 54-game schedule over about two-and-a-half months against WCL opponents occupying two states and two Canadian provinces. . The regular season begins on May 31 at home for a three-game series against the Ridgefield Raptors and continues at home against the Walla Walla Sweets. home and away games alternate pretty much throughout the season, though the Pickles are on the road for 12 straight games from June 25 to July 11. They close out the season at home with the final of a three-game series against the Kelowna Falcons.
Most weeks have the Pickles playing a pair of three-game series Tuesday through Sunday, with Monday off. The West Coast League is comprised of 16 teams. The Pickles play at least a series each against 10 of those teams, and a pair of series against most of them. They do not face the Bellingham Bells, Edmonton Riverhawks, Nanaimo NightOwls, Port Angeles Lefties, Wenatchee AppleSox nor Victoria HarbourCats this season. All six of those teams reside in the North Division of the WCL, while the Pickles call the South Division their home.
All home games for the Pickles this season feature at least one promotion. All promotions are listed in parenthesis following the game time.
Several players from the WCL see time in MLB and are chosen in that league's draft regularly. The WCL, as well as other leagues around the country, give players exposure beyond their college careers. A record 40 players in Major League Baseball were featured on opening-day rosters this season. They include 2020 American League Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber, 2022 American League Rookie of the Year runner-up Adley Rutschman, and 2022 National League All-Star Tyler Anderson.
The first section of what follows is the WCL schedule and is followed by the WWWL games and exhibitions. The Pickles play their home games at Walker Stadium in the Lents neighborhood of southeast Portland. Opponents' home stadiums are listed below the schedule. All times are pacific time and are subject to change. Pickles' home games are highlighted in bold green.
